webfact
Khlong Lot vendors warned on new hoursTanatpong Kongsai,The NationBANGKOK: -- Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) officials yesterday warned about 1,000 vendors in the Khlong Lot Re-organisation Project area that they will only be allowed to sell goods from 7pm to 3am - from today. At Khlong Lot, where vendors used to sell goods day and night, city governor's adviser Wichai Sangprapai and law-enforcement officials inspected the area's readiness while representatives of vendors also presented the team with flowers to welcome the new rule.He warned that vendors who sell goods outside these hours would be punished, and urged them to also keep the area clean and well organised, so it can be a model for other areas. To make way for street cleaning, the BMA is also considering implementing a measure to ban the sale of goods on Mondays in areas where the law was relaxed to allow street hawking, he said.Under this move, vendors are required not to sell within 10 metres of bus stops or five metres from pedestrian overpasses. They must also not block a pedestrian crossing or the doors of a phone booth, and stalls must not block pedestrians' space on footpaths.-- The Nation 2013-05-

seajae
how about those that set up on the pedestrian overpasses, you need to turn side on when crossing some of them, doubt this will actually happen, bib will loose too much tea money.
