Mail From Oz To Rawai

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I'm staying at a small guest house in Rawai and need some documents posted from Australia.

The small guest house doesn't appear to have a mailbox and I'm not even clear on the address.

So..what would my best bet be?

Would it be possible to have them mailed to the post office in Rawai?

Thanks in advance for any ideas

Not many places in Thailand have a mail box. Do not worry about that. Mail is delivered in your hands. Ask (preferably the owner of your guest house) to write their address in Thai. Let a Thai person (for instance internet shop staff) type the Thai address in Word and send that to Oz. But not before including your name and preferably room number to the details. Can do that in English of course.

Then tell the people in the guest house EVERY DAY that you are expecting mail from Oz any moment now!

Good luck.

I agree you do not have to have a mail box at your house. I finally got one after years of not having one. Your address doesn't have to be in Thai, English will work. Be aware that it can take quite some time to arrive. I have no idea about general delivery to the Rawai post office. You could stop by and ask them.

They are familiar with the Poste Restante system in Thailand where you send mail to a certain post office and the addressee will then go there and pick it up. Would not rely on it in Thailand. Address in English will in a tourist centre as Phuket probably suffice but address in Thai will inevitably give (even) higher success rate.
