Phantom Of The Opera "gala" Question

Featured Replies

I am considering traveling to Bangkok to see Phantom and I see on ThaiTicket that there is a "Gala" performance. I've been all over google and other search engines to find out what the "gala" is and cannot find any information regarding it. Does it mean formal dress code? Does it mean a social gathering before or after the performance? If anyone has an idea or knows where I should look to find out, please let me know.

Thanks!

A gala performance is normally the premiere or first performance, but i see that the gala performance is not on the first night. I am as confused as you are. Perhaps you should call to the therater and ask them.

I booked for the show months ago and then the Gala Night was sold out, as were other nights, they have since added extra performances.

I can only assume that as it's a touring version of the show they want it to bed down for a couple of performances before they let all the good and the great in, or maybe it's a charity event which typically wouldn't be on the first night.

I was thinking along the same line as "theoldgit". Perhaps a couple shows to settle in then "give it all ya got". I am more concerned about getting a ticket for the gala then finding out everyone is in a tuxedo or formal dress. I haven't been in a suit for about 10 years and don't own one. I will see if I can contact the theater regarding the dress code for this performance.

OKAY! I had my wife contact TTM and she was told that the Gala Night is a formal attire event. I guess that means a different night for me. Thanks to those who responded.
