Single Entry Non Imm Type B Visa, Extension?

Featured Replies

British national

Married to Thai lady

is it possible to apply for an extension on the afore mention visa. Yes or No????, based on marriage. I don't think its allowed, from what I've read, came over on this visa, as wanted to "fact find" and things have gone rather well, my error on visa choice!!!

No major problem if not as have a return flight, and require to return to the UK for a short time, and then can return on a multi Non Imm type B, but would be great to get a year extension, now, and then I can delay my return, current stay on single entry expiry 28th May.

There is 400K in my name only, in a Thai Bank over 3 months now.

Thanks for an help

The requirement is non immigrant visa entry and believe they will accept the B for marriage extension just as know they will for continued extension for marriage after a business extension. Remember there is a 30 day under review period each year on this type of extension so needs to be when you will be here for both application and month later stamp each year (if that might change your timing).

Why would you want to return on a multi entry B visa if you are married and intend to extend?

Providing you can show the 400K in the bank for the requisite period, then no problem making a Thai Spouse One Year Extension with a Single Entry Non Immigrant Category 'B'.

There is no requirement to show any WP/Company Papers if you go down the 400K route.

As Lopburi wrote, why revert to a Multiple Entry Non 'B' once you are on one year extensions based on a Thai Spouse - just get a Single/Multiple Re-Entry Permit and you will not lose the extension on exit/re-entry within the one year period.

Note the caveat re the 30 day 'Under Consideration ' period (up to 30 days from the expiry of your 'Permitted to Stay Until' passport stamp) where you need to be in Thailand to return to immigration get the balance of the One Year extension added to your passport.

Sorry I am on a type O non imm, not having a good day. Stinking head cold. More Day/might nurse required!

I take it that the advice given, still stands??

Yes, it makes no difference. The non-O visa is given for several reasons, among them being married to a Thai national.

Last question, in regards to which Immigration office to use in Bangkok, I take it you need to go to the main offices in Chaengwatana or is it possible to use the One stop visa work permit centre Patumwan ????

You must use Chiang Watanna if living in Bangkok. One Stop is only for business extensions of those working for companies under BOI sponsorship.

Thanks, thought that was the case.

I will update this tomorrow, as am going to see if I can get extension on marriage on this, as all the items I am reading including, documents from immigration centre, is that you need a multi entry non imm O to be able to apply for extension, not a single

Totally wrong - and am amazed that you are reading that anywhere as I have never seen any such mis-information posted here or on any immigration web site - the fact is immigration can issue a single entry non immigrant entry if you do not have one to start the extension of stay process.

Thanks lopburi3, I am off down to immigration now. What I read was the pamphlet, which talks about a visa with a 3 cycle in 1 year. Which is am assuming is the multi entry. I think with my inexperience in this matter has caused me to misinterpret what's written.

Also have a few "friends attempting to help" and I know they don't know what I need!!!

Agree there is a lot of misinformation available and friends often get at least part of the story wrong (and due to terms used it is easy and not really there fault). But the multi entry non immigrant O visa is for those that do not qualify for extension of stay for financial or timing reasons (have to work outside Thailand would be a prime example) or just do not want to extend - for others who can meet the financials within 90 days of entry the single entry visa is all that is required - on a multi entry you could still extend during the last 30 days of any entry but you have lost the extra cost of the visa.

Would you credit it, immigration wanted my affirmation to marry from last year, luckily I have it. But by the time we drove back and got it we couldn't get back by close of play. Oh well not to worry, officer appeared satisfied with most of it. Still let them play, it's no worse than our experience with UKBA when my wife came to the UK last year for six months.
