As mad as the first two Kims were in their dictatorship over North Korea, they managed to keep the Stalinist state afloat during the respective tenure of each. This is not the case with the bouncing baby boy Kim Jong Un. Baby Kim may not be able to hold the regime together.

For one thing, baby Kim makes Rodney Dangerfield look like the most respected man in town. Another factor is age, which remains central to the ancient Confucian philosophy of society - the baby Kim is much too young to command any respect as a leader. He has family support of elders, but they are a necessary crutch to his status, and what dictator can survive on systemic crutches?

Kim Jong-Un Is No Master Strategist

As the linked article states, "Indeed, for a state in as precarious of a situation as North Korea finds itself in, having a prudent grand strategy becomes something of a necessity. And yet it seems increasingly apparent that Kim Jong-Un lacks the skills as a strategist that his grandfather and father relied on to sustain the regime."

In the recent, usual extortion strategy of the North, Prez Obama stood down the baby Kim by responding with an arms buildup that exceeded the nuclear weapons threat the baby Kim and his generals precipitated in their effort to extract concessions from the U.S. and South Korea.

The new Obama strategy of standing up to the dictator and his gang of generals is a game changer. Prez Obama and South Korea established a new approach that now has put the North's regime on the ropes. Not getting concessions from the major Western players, i.e., the U.S. and South Korea, has left Kim and the generals out on the limb they themselves crawled onto in their usual tried and true ways of the past. Now the North has to reconsider how it is to survive without Western concessions to its noisy threats and manufactured commotions.
