What is the definition of "work study tour" under the ED visa requirements, posted earlier???

I knew there would be at least one post saying you'd go to jail and get deported though, but maybe this "work study tour" criteria covers you.

If you get the ED Visa issued under these circumstances then I would think you are in the clear.. Although I'm not pretending to be an expert..

Get whatever you can in writing, and if they do Issue you with the ED visa without Thai university sponsorship, then the consulate/embassy has accepted your criteria and that's got to be worth something, surely?

Don't let the Thaivisa doom-sayers spoil your dream mate!

And keep this thread up to date, it may be very helpful to other people considering the same in future.

I believe this post hits the nail on the head. If anyone asked me personally I would tell them to go for it. Nothing bad will happen.

The Thai embassy in USA has posted the following. It would indicate one can get an ED visa based on documents provided by the company to show that the person will be working for the company as an intern at no pay for a set period. The usual documents showing the company is a registered and operation per Thai law as well as an invitation letter. I would assume anyThai embassy could issue an ED visa based on the these requirements. Good luck and enjoy Thailand.

<Non-Immigrant Visa Category “ED”>
(1) Foreigners who wish to study in Thailand must provide the following documents:
· Letter of acceptance from the concerned schools/ universities or institutes
· School license or business registration, list of shareholders and school profile
(2) Foreigners who wish to participate in projects or seminar, to attend a conference or training course in Thailand must provide the following documents:
· Letter from applicant’s company indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment, salary and purpose of visit(s) to Thailand
· Letter of invitation or acceptance from the concerned companies/ organizations or institutes with business registration or business license

Thanks for your responses! I got an e-mail back from the Thai Ambassy in The Netherlands, and they also told me this:
"If the internship is a part of your study, the Non-Immigration ED will be issued"

So even if the embassy don't know anything about a work permit, I guess that if I would need a type B visa, they would told me, with of without any workpermit ? I think I will just go for a ED visa, hoping it will all work out tongue.png

Just to make sure, I will take the advice from Onthemoon, to contact the Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce and the German-Thai chamber.

And to make it clear, I will not actually "work" at the company, there will be al lot of practicing. I will do my internship at an orthopedic company (Making (arm / leg) prosthetics and orthotics) and this internship is to learn and practice as much as possible, making those prosthetics / orthotics and sometimes watch along with the professional orthopedic technician when, for example, making a plaster casting / mold for fitting the custom prosthetics / orthotics. But i'm not supposed to see patiënts on my own.

Maybe this would make any difference as well?

And that is also why this internship is unpaid. It's normal that internships will be unpaid, I wouldn't get paid if I would do this internship at my home country, although with lots of other education in my home country its more common to pay interns. It's not like we are just a free "employer", these internship are necessary to learn all the techniques, it's not like we can "work" without any supervisor.
