Send (Sell) Something Ems Cash On Delivery - Safe?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to sell a high-end notebook (Sony Vaio Z series) and have put classified advertisements onto a few sites.

I got a reply from a guy up-country asking me to send it cash on delivery (Pattaya -> Issan) . This message came within 10 minutes of me placing the advert at 5am!

I considered 2 possible bad outcomes:

1) The buyer checks the package (indeed he'd be mad not check) and refuses the package... I then get the package returned; possibly with contents missing.

2) The postal service deliver the item but then string out the process making me wait ages for the collected cash. Possible problems could include the claim that I had already received the cash.

Are these worries valid or am I being overly cautious ?

Don't send it without getting the money first.

He could bribe the postman to lose the package, swap packages or many other scams.

Just tell your buyer to do a bank transfer, that can be done at any ATM, if he declines you decline the sale with him.

Of course someone must be stupid to send a laptop without having the money first, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, and if you agree I am also ok to buy it...

And its not crazy the other way around.. paying for something that could be some bricks or a defect lap top.
