Photo: PRBC PHUKET: -- The Phuket Regional Blood Center (PRBC), often called upon to save the lives of Thais and foreigners, has no reserves of type O-negative and A-negative blood.The blood bank is also low on stocks of blood types A and B.“We try to maintain a daily minimum stock of 200 units of A, B and O blood types, and 20 units of Rhesus-negative blood,” said PRBC acting chief Pornthip Rattajak.“We currently have only 100 units of blood types A and B on hand, and we have zero stock of O and A Rhesus-negative blood. We especially need them,” she said.The Phuket Chapter of the Red Cross Society has announced its schedule of mobile donation clinics for the month of May.To help replenish dwindling stocks, the mobile blood donation clinics will be at the following places and times.May 10: Toyota Pearl Phuket (bypass road), 1pm-4pmMay 14: Patong Hospital, meeting room on 3rd floor, 1pm-4pmMay 15: Homepro Village (Chalong), noon-4pmMay 16: ST Honda (Phuket Town), Thepkrasattri Road, 1pm-4pmMay 20: Panwa Beach Resort Hotel (Cape Panwa), 1pm-4pmMay 23: Anupas Honda (Chalong), Chao Fa West Road, 1pm-4pmMay 28: Jungceylon (Patong), ground floor, in front of FOX shop, noon-6pmMay 30: CherngTalay Administrative Organization, 10am-3pmThe blood center accepts donations at their headquarters on Rattanakosin 200 Year Road, next to Phuket Provincial Employment Office in Saphan Hin (map here), at the following days and times:- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: from 8:30am to 4:30pm (no break for lunch)- Tuesdays and Thursdays: from 8:30 am to 8pm (no break for lunch)- Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays: from 9am to 3pm (no break for lunch)For more information contact the PRBC (Tel: 076-251178. dighambara Posted May 11, 2013 Share Posted May 11, 2013 HMMM - Interesting that Foreign blood types have so thoroughly invaded Thailand. Type A is 'European', and Tybe B is from the Caspian - Ural Sea area, Sometimes referred to a 'Mongolian'. Type O was universal until about 1000 years ago when the new mutations appeared.
