Changing From Extension Based On Marriage To Retirement

Featured Replies

I could do with some help please.

I have been extending based on being married to my Thai wife now for 9 years. I have decided to switch to an extension based on retirement as I am fed up with all the paperwork needed for the marriage based extension.

My extension has to be before August 31st.

I will be going to Jomtien and will have 800K in my bank account.

Could someone please confirm that I can make this extension 2 months before if I want, so that would be July 1st if I wanted.

Also, I will have had the cash in the bank for 2 months at that date (July 1st), is that seeded long enough or does the first extension have to be seeded for longer than 60 days.

Although I know all the rules for the Thai spouse extension, this retirement extension is new territory!

Thanks very much for your help

Retirement requires 3 month in account each year (unless a first extension and believe your marriage is included in that count so will have to be 3 months). Also do not believe Jomtien is anxious to do more than 30 days early anymore.

Lopburi, thanks for the quick reply. I thought that may be the case. Thanks again
