Large cache of military weapons seized in Korat

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: -- A significant cache of military weapons and munitions was seized in a police raid on a house in the northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) province Thursday.

Led by Pol. Lt-Gen. Sathaporn Laotong, provincial police forces raided an unregistered house in a village in Kornburi district, seizing 23 weapons stored inside, and arrested houseowner Somsak Thavornrat, 44, who claimed the weapons were his personal property and that he was simply an arms collector.

Mr. Somsak said he was fond of military weapons and armaments and so he bought them for his personal collection. Some, he said, were given to him by friends who know that he is a collector.

However, police did not believe what he claimed and would carry out further interrogation. Mr. Somsak was charged with illegal possession of military arms.

Meanwhile, police reopened a case in which gunmen fired on a tapioca flour mill in nearby Soeng-sang district recently. No one has been arrested in connection with the case, but police are hoping to bring the case to a successful conclusion.

Too bad :D

Collector´s worldwide should be united against this kind of maniac acts..

How this poor man can protect His property, himself or whatever after this?

BS, i say :D

You are a collector if you have 23 different weapons......... :D

You are not a collector if you have 23 of the same weapon ....... :D

The report doesn't really specify does it ........ :o

I think its funny how in this article there is an additional story added which has nothing to do with the orginal story.

Almost like saying..........

"A large asteroid will smash into the Earth next week. Meanwhile Thai authorities are expected to streamline the visa process making it extremely easy to get a visa."

Both of which are highly unlikely.

It is called SPIN.

You throw one story in with another in the hope that it will get lost,

but you cannot be accused of not reporting it.

The technique was covered in one of the episodes of West Wing. (Great programme)

Collectors? oi!

maniac acts? someone thought he was dangerous (or he was a butthead) and a neighbor (or someone) turned him in ....

If he has a valid excuse to have those (and it is not illegal) he'll get them back (fat chance!)

This isn't a case of a hunter etc .... and possessing military weapons as a civilian is usually illegal in most places.
