I'm 'blue-skying' an idea, and it might not be feasible.

In my 'home' amphur (Thalang, north Phuket), there are several primary schools. None of them employ a native English speaker(NES) to teach spoken English. Some of the kids from my extended Thai family attend these schools, and their spoken English abilities are minimal. I am guessing that the schools simply do not have the budget to employ a full-time NES.

So here's a plan. I offer to teach spoken/conversational English on a part-time basis at each school, receiving a part-time salary from each establishment.

Assuming the schools are interested in my offer and have a budget, how would the WP issues be resolved for teaching at multiple schools?

I would imagine that many Thai government schools would appreciate even a couple of hours of NES teaching each week.

Does anyone on the forum teach at multiple schools? How are the WP 'logistics' resolved?

The Thai Government sponsered a program like that last summer. I was a teacher in it. I worked 6 hours a week and got paid ฿10,000 a month. Unfortunately the governmemt stopped the funding after 4 months. I did not have a WP and I don't know any one who did. Most of us were on Non O extended visas, so really didn't care too much about a work permit.

@Issangeorge, yes I know about that scheme. My idea was to work full-time, but split my hours across multiple schools in the district. I won't pursue this idea if there is not a WP solution.

The labour department can stamp multiple work places in your work permit, subject to each school giving you a contract with the correct documentation and your personal documents allowing you to become a teacher

For 2nd or 3rd ++ locations to be entered in the WP, the first employer needs to give their permission.

Each different employer will need to submit all documents as the first one did. Same for you.

No paperwork shortcuts that I know of, but if in the same area, and all government schools, you might be able to arrange something with the Labor Office.

Isn't that pretty obvious?

I worked at two schools in the same province. I had to get a letter from the first school stating that it was okay for me to work at the second and that along with all the paperwork from the new school got me a second place added to my WP. I think that each school will have to supply a complete paperwork package including the letter from the MOE.

If you did it as a company and got a contract from each school you could do it without a problem.

Work permit would reflect that your job requires you to work a various locations.

Interesting.

Since visas and work permits are tied together, what do you do when you stop working for a school when you have multiple schools on the wp? Do you need to change your wp and remove a school? Sounds like a hassle.

In your scenario I would advise that it is impossible. As stated you would need each school to provide all the paperwork from the MOE and your WP is to be displayed at every place where you teach. If these schools do not have the funds to pay for a farang teacher chances are they wont go for all the paperwork as well seeing as that is a huge deal for the schools tax purposes each year.

"Since visas and work permits are tied together..."

Not all WP's are tied to visas.

Many have WP's with O visas/extensions and are not tied together.
