Yet again I have phoned TOT because of dropped connections. This farce has been running for almost 6 months now. After the first two times they came to the house and took one look at the modem and said it is no good without even checking it, I phoned a supervisor and complained.

Since then, each time they have checked the modem (4 times at the house and 1 time at TOT office) they say the modem is not the problem. They even told the g/f in Thai the modem is not the problem. They said they need to fix outside.

cheesy.gif

Getting very p*ssed off, I phoned 2 different supervisors over a period of weeks.

1st said he would get it sorted - he did not.

2nd one says he has a written report from the engineers telling him the modem is no good.

So I told him that either he is lying to me or the engineers are lying to me and him and the g/f. And if my modem is allegedly not working, why not give me one of theirs on a trial basis and if all worked OK I'd happily pay them for it. (I've already bought a 2nd modem BTW and have the same problems)

Last night after 2 hours of dropped connections I phoned and told them I wanted to cancel the contract.

This afternoon they come along to the house and bring a different modem with them - a LAN modem (same connection as I have). They disconnect my modem and install theirs. After much faffing about they tell me they are not happy with the SNR and other readings on THEIR modem.

Wait for it........

They say my modem is not the problem but it is the connection outside the house - again blink.pngclap2.gif

Will they fix the problem outside ???

What are the odds I have to phone again and again ......

Farcical, honest!! laugh.png

2 hours? We were offline for a week and got arrogant reception/incorrect info from these guys, much as you did. Working now bit for some reason very slowly.

I periodically think about cancelling my TOT and truemoves subscriptions due to this kind of stuff, I can do my banking via iPhone.

Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa app

I'm currently trying fishing method with TOT. Slowly reeling them to fix the problem. I call local TOT 2-4 times every day, always polite discussions. I don't even need to tell my subscriber number as they already know it :)

They always say that they'll ask technician to fix the problem.. which never happens.

If the line is not fixed by today. I'll write another blog entry and send it to their PR. That seemed to help first time, when I got the line, but most of the ports were blocked.

Its the same with me up here in Chiang Mai,they always tell you its the routers fault,

so I bought new router, still use old one as well,as cannot get 1 PC to connect wireless

to new router.

Now the problem is when it rains the connection goes down,so thats not a router problem

must be the wires outside getting wet ,whatever, now this is a catch 22 situation, because

I only have the problem when it rains, if the technician (termed loosely) comes and its not

raining he will find no problem, so I am going to have to wait till rainy season starts proper

to see if they can find problem, when it rains and it goes down, takes about hr to come back

then its usually very slow, for an other couple of hrs, I though True TV was only thing that

went off when it rained, except when it really rains then electric goes off without fail.

And who is really any better? Many bad stories about other providers too.

Yes. But from my experience TOT are the worst I had TOT before always problems.. Went to 3bb. no problems. Other than very occasional slowing.

That sounds typical.

At least you'll have plenty of opportunities to call them out in the rainy season. Only problem is, they'll wait until it stops raining b4 they come out to have look rolleyes.gifwhistling.gif

Sophon cable, hands down. Hardly ever a problem and if there is one, fixed within 24 hours

I had similar problems with TOT for a long time, with exactly the same responses as you get.

I still have a modem from the TOT engineers they left at my house for testing purposes, because my modem wasn't good. They said they would return after 1 week to see the results............that was about 4 years ago.

I had some confidental conversation with one of the managers who has his office on the third floor of the TOT building klang/3rd road. That converstaion ended abruptly when I made attempts to throw him out of the window, and the police was called in.

I was allowed to cancel my contract and they didn't even bother for the last 2 payments.

OP, your story reminds me of my first days in Thailand. Over 10 years ago, when i arrived i got True Internet(was in BKK)

It did not work, so i called them and they sent out a tech.

I had a brand new top specs Toshiba that cost me around $3000(this was over 10 years ago)

So this guy pokes my laptop and states "laptop no good" and leaves.

Still being a newbie, i called and abused the crap out of them, demanding they send out a tech who actually knows how to turn on a computer.

Funny enough, the problem was that my internet settings were preset to Oz settings, but none of the pro techs at True ever bothered to check when doing the connection

Do yourself a favour and never ever call/visit the local TOT office as they don't give a crap.. Always call 1100, give them a precise description of your problem. Chances are 1000000000:1 that your problem will be solved to your satisfaction.. smile.png

Just my experience from Surin..

So you want to blame True that you didn't set up you laptop correctly?

At first i wanted to blame you for failing to read, but then realized it may not be as easy as it seems.

Back then, techs would come out and set up everything, so it was not my responsibility to check, it was theirs DOH!

Connect to Sophon Cable today and you will find they set up your modem and router and your PC, test it a few times before the job is done.

Yeah lemocake, because I've spent all my life here in Surin and have no other experience.. thumbsup.gif

NO, because you have no idea what my experience was yet keep on trolling claiming to know it.

You are right, I have no clue on your experience other than what you have posted yourself.. So, You go girl..

You write that they didn't set up your pc/laptop, I fail to see where I disagree.. The fact is that where ever you're staying, your isp don't give a f... about your pc/laptop settings unless you specifically ask them for assistance. And this is not based on any trolling experience, but actual knowledge from 4 cities and 3 different isp's in Thailand and 9 different European isp's (3 countries)..

1100 is an even bigger joke.

What your problem sir?

OK, I talk technician, make report

Goodbye.

In my original post I said I even called thei supervisors and they did very little.

Admittedly this problem is in Pattaya and I've never experienced problems like this with TOT in other parts of Thailand.

Drjden, please let me explain where you showed that you are inexperienced.

It was at the point where you started a discussion with Lemoncake laugh.png

Everyone on this forum know that doing so will make you wish you never found this forum.

They told me it's because my modem is black that there is a problem.

I've had that too. Oddly enough, the TOT LAN modem they brought today was........ a black one laugh.png

A decent tech will should check everything. But many do not, like the reports we get on here of Techs looking at a black modem and saying 'modem no good'. As they did with me on two occasions until I complained to a supervisor and that Tech never came back to my house whistling.gif

From my screenshots of the innards of my modem over the months showing SNR and connection stats and other data, not one realised the SNR was incorrect until today, even when they were checking it out for themselves.

Even the other data levels were incorrect according to the guy today with their modem linked up.

Obviously there are Techs and Techs. Some, it seems, either have no real idea or maybe they simply do not care as long as they get paid each month.

Yes they checked out my TCP/IP protocols and stuff today too. They pinged servers and checked other stuff.

Now I'll wait to see what the supervisor says regards getting the cables / connection repaired.

Easily fixed. File a formal complaint with the NBTC complaints division - Division Director Rungtawan Jindawan - email: //removed// - Yes, she speaks English

I have now for about 5 years an 3BB connection.

And in general i'm very happy with it.

I had a few issues but the service center was not to bad an on every occasion an technician showed up ( even on a Sunday ) and solved the problem.

Luckily i never encountered stupid remarks from them about the modem or my computer etc.
