Looking For A Fogger/ulv Machine To Kill Mosquitos

Hi,

We used to have a wonderful young man come around and use a fogger (also called a ULV Machine) to spray our yard outside with a fogger, as well as spray a liquid to kill mosquito larve. They'd disappear for about 2 weeks. But then he moved to Bangkok and we haven't found anyone else. He charged about 500 baht each time. I've called a few farang places and their prices border on the absurd.

Would anyone have the contact info of a reasonably priced mosquito spray service? I've also seen that the Phuket Municipality Sanitation Department sprays at hotels for 500 baht a shot, has anybody tried this and have their contact info? http://www.phuketgazette.net/issuesanswers/printing.asp?id=1236

Finally, I'd also be interested in buying a fogger myself, but haven't found a shop that offers them. Any leads?

Last year Rentokill Phuket charged me 4280 Baht for fogging my 1 rai compound, they also put pest control stuff into about 10 septic tanks. I am in Khao Lak, it might cost a bit less in Phuket.

True that in the countryside, like up in the Isaan, it is not unusual for the ampurs (municipalities) to go around fogging for free.

Has anyone had any luck with a mosquito trap like the Mega Catch? If it works I'll be sure to bring one when I move to Phuket. (It worked pretty well for me when I lived in Canada.) This site has some information on various mosquito traps: http://www.mosquitoworld.net/mosquitotrapreviews.php

never tried but they have many types in homepro

i'm thinking of not extending my bug spray service to save money. 1000b/mth is quite a lot. the termites treatment i can do my self with some stuff from homepro but not sure about the mozys. it would be good to find something you could sprinkle in the garden to kill them where they breed

apparently, they have their own website

Malathion and Permethrin look like the things to get. it sounds like they can be mixed with water and sprayed using a garden sprayer, that may be longer lasting than fogging

I have one of those big homepro gadgets for sale if anyone wnats it....cannot remember name just now, has the gas bottle and all.

On a side note, what is it that they spray in those foggers that is supposed to get rid of mosquitoes?

I have never found them to work in the long run, always back a few days later.

Out of curiosity, I tried to mix white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar, 9 parts water) and spray it around my home.

This seemed to keep the mosquitoes away. Try it out if it works and report to here. At least it's not an expensive experiment.

Thanks for the link - the guy in the photo is holding what I beleive to be a hand fogger. I've seen them advertised on Amazon, but they are powered by propane cylinder. I'm not sure how easy those are to find in Phuket, or if one could simply take them to a gaz guy to refill.
