PATTAYA:--The man wanted in connection with last month’s theft of money from a Donation Box at a Shrine located on Pattaya Beach has been arrested as he attempted to break-into the box for a second time.

The initial incident took place on 14th April and was featured on every national TV News program. Since that time the suspect remained at-large. It was not expected he would attempt to steal from the donation box again but that is exactly what happened just after 4.30am on Sunday.

This time a local motorbike taxi driver saw what was happening and detained the man pending the arrival of Police.

Probably proclaiming in the newspaper that he may have made off with as much as Baht 10,000 the first time was ill-advised. I'm surprised that amount was left in the box and announcing that might attract the interest of others in the community who feel the need to supplement their income.

To be blunt, but not meaning to be unkind, the suspect appears to be "challenged" in some fundamental ways. Something tells me he needs some sort of custodial care other than prison.
