Books For Thai Kids For Learning English?

Featured Replies

I am ordaining as a monk soon, and will, at times, be teaching English to Thai children at the forest Wat (temple) I will be living at. While I have a CELTA cetificate, I've never done much English teaching-- and never chldren.

My question is: Are there some good books that are out there for kids learning English that I can use? I'm looking for books because I'd prefer a systematic approach to lessons that build upon one another vs. surfing and searching the Internet for various lessons and activities that I, myself, would have to pull together in a systematic way. I am hoping to find books for beginning learners of English (for kids). Is there a systemitized curriculum that someone can suggest? The kids' ages will most likely range across all grade levels.

Thanks.

JJ

The book "Lets go" P1-P6 is ok for elementary students. Parts will ask that the students listen to a CD but very hard to get if you are not a school. However you can use the internet that links to their website and you can find the same audio files that should come with the textbooks.

Eddy B,

Thanks for the info. After making my original post, I did some more "research" online to answer my own question. I also came up with the Let's Go series (which was also mentioned in a previous TV post which I found doing some more searching within TV itself). Still, I wanted to see what others might say. Your reply helps to confirm that Let's Go would be good for me to look into; thanks also for the audio info. Thanks again for your reply. Much appreciated.

Kind regards,

JJ

I believe that you have to pay to download the audio discs, but I believe there is a Japanese website for Let's Go that has them for free. I believe it's the 3rd edition. The newest edition, the 4th edition, doesn't have them on the Japanese website yet.

But, do some looking around and you should get what you need.

I'd recon to search where the pirates make their daily swim lessons. Some very good stuff."Say Hello" is still another good option, using textbooks.

Good luck!-wai2.gif

And a big thanks from me, too - most useful. The Let's Go 2 Workbook (edition 3) is indeed just what I was looking for!

Cheers
