If you responded to the Family Migration Enquiry, then you should have received the following :

Launch of the Family Migration Inquiry report

Date: Monday, 10 June 2013

Time: 13:00 - 14:30

Venue: Committee Room 8, House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA

Thank you for submitting evidence to the family migration inquiry. I am pleased to be able to invite you to attend the launch of the family migration inquiry report, which will be held on Monday, 10 June 2013, from 13:00 - 14:30 in Committee Room 8, House of Commons.

The Committee launched the inquiry in November 2012 to examine the impact of certain new rules on family migration that came into effect in July 2012. In particular, we reviewed the impact of the new minimum annual income requirement of £18,600 for British nationals and permanent residents who want to bring non-EEA spouses or partners to the UK(and the requirements where there are children), and the new rules on sponsorship of non-EEA adult/elderly dependents applying to come to the UK.

Committee members included Virendra Sharma (Vice-Chair), Sarah Teather MP , Lord Hussain, Lord Teverson, Kate Green MP, Paul Uppal MP and Viscount Bridgeman.

This launch will bring together the committee members and members of the public who submitted evidence into the inquiry to discuss the report's findings and the recommendations to the government. This invitation is for only those who submitted into the inquiry and I hope you will be able to join us.

I would be grateful if you would respond to Awale Olad at [email protected] or call 020 7 336 9416.

Yours sincerely,

Baroness Hamwee

Chair, APPG on Migration Family Migration Committee

I will not be able to attend, as I am in Thailand,

Work commitments mean that I can't attend either, but I've asked them for a copy and will report back with the findings when (if) I've received it.

Hopefully, some of the findings will be "leaked" earlier !

Indeed.

The big question, though, is which of the inquiry's recommendations, if any, will the government act upon?

I suspect Mrs May will aggressively fight all the recommendations that do not suit her. Failing that, all will go quiet until a legal challenge is made. If all else fails the government will worry about it if they are re-elected.

It would be interesting to see it in action but I cannot get there. I will check to see if it is on BBC Parliament!
