What Time Does The Border Close At Nong Khai? (Stop At Boarder On Route To Vientiane)

Featured Replies

I'm making a trip to laos tomorrow from phitsanulok. Will get bus (may) have to change at Udon Thani on route to nong khai (like many other traveling to nong khai from various locations). Just wondering what time the boarder closes assuming it closes at all. Have alot of other great info regarding all other aspects of the trip from previous threads. So only need to know about the boarder and time it closes maybe approx how long it takes to get through thai and lao immigration also. Also if someone would like to summarize briefly the trip by bus would be useful for people. I may do this myself once my info is complete...

Bridge closes at 10PM but you need to be to Lao side of border before that time.

Latest arrival Thai immigration I suggest would be 9PM.

I've got there at 22:00 on a few occasions after landing at Udon late on Nokair from Bkk and had no problems getting through. I do however hold a Lao work permit so the Lao side is a breeze for me.

Official closing time is indeed 22:00.

The problem for most is getting the visa on arrival for Laos that late.
