Could someone who knows this lower part of Thailand perhaps tell me what airport to fly to for Kakorn Si Thammarat, and which airliners operate on this route ? Guess there are few local airliners that fly on the south, but I don't know them.

I assume you mean Nakhon Si Thammarat.

It has it's own airport and Thai, Air Asia, and Nok fly there from Bangkok.

It's in between Surat Thani and Nakhon Si. I believe it would be closer to Surat Thani. Not sure about which airlines but I am sure Air Asia and Nok Air would fly there. Both cities have airports

Kakorn is Khanom Beach area, so yes, Surat would be easiest.

I've never heard of Khanom being referred to as Kakorn Si Thammarat. If interested in Nakhon Si Thammarat, there's an airport in the city. If interested in Khanom, Surat Thani is the best airport.

My wife is from Nakhon Si Thammarat and all the local people I know refer to the city as Nakhon Si.

Nope, Khanom is definitely in Nakhon province.. There is no Kakorn..
