I want to purchase a car from a Person in Rayong. Is it best to transfer it here or in Rayong? Any information would be appreciated.

Depends where the car is registered...if its on a Rayong number plate then it will be easier to transfer the name in Rayong.

I wish I could help. I bought my motorbike from a person who bought it from a dealership in Rayong, and it was still registered in the dealer's name. I live in Pattaya. I tried to register it here in Pattaya, but was told that I couldn't, because it was acutally registered in Bangkok. I went back to Rayoung, went to the DMV with the dealer, and after 6 weeks I finally got my Green Book from Rayong. Still don't know what to do when I sell it, but I guess the buyer will have to figure this one out on their own, because I don't understand it.

There are 2 ways of going about it.

1 you take the vehicle to the main department of land transport office ( DLT) in the province the vehicle is registered in

( the number plate shows this ) the vehicle will retain its original number plate but the owner name in blue/green book updated

can be done in one day with all the correct paper work. ( not so good if you have to travel to the other end of the country )

2 you take the vehicle to the main DLT in the province you now reside and ask them to "move" the vehicle to that province

this will mean having to change the number plate and may involve 3 trips ( more if you forget some paper work )

to the DLT to get everything sorted out.

You can pay tax and insurance anywhere no mater where the vehicle is registered.
