I'd like to apply for a 1 Year Non Imm B Visa in Penang. I'm a British Passport holder and Director of a Thai Ltd Company. What I'd like to know is:

1) Are Penang issuing 1 Year Non Imm B Visas?

2) If so what papers are required.

Thanks Wave

the registration papers of the company as well as an official letter from company is required other than the usual stuff (i.e. original passport valid for visa period along with free visa pages, 6 passport photos, visa fee etc.).

This is what I needed to obtain a Non Imm B Visa in Singapore - though mine was for 3 months only.

Cheers!

Be wary of Penang. They recently tightened up on the requirements and are not the recommended location for B visas just at the moment.

Check out this thread for details http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43016

It would appear that you will be OK if you have a work permit already (not your first non-B ).

You are unlikely to get a multi non-b anywhere is SE Asia, for that matter it seems to be getting increasingly difficult to get one, period :o You are expected to get a single entry visa and then extend your stay against the work-permit you obtain via your company / employer.

If anyone has more recent information on B's and Penang we would be very happy to hear from you.

Things have indeed changed. The last post from Sunbelt Asia was on February 25, 2006 and applied to both Penang and Kuala Lumpur:

Both will issue just a 90 day business visa.

Unless you have a work permit...

In both cities with a work permit you can get a one year multi entry visa.

In September 2005, apart from the company registration papers and the letter of invitation, a WP3 was required to apply for a first time application for a Non Immigrant B Visa at Penang. This WP3 is a "temporary" work permit which the company you are going to work for has to apply fir from the local Work Permit office in Thailand.

They may have changed this again of course, but at that time they refused to issue even a 90 day Non Immigrant B if you did not bring a WP3.

Yeap, I was there early this month with all the papers for the B visa, and they tell me to get WP3, which of course I didnt have. So they gave me a 60 days tourist visa instead.. Can anyone suggest other type of Visa to get that let me stay in BKK longer. My visa will run out in May, need to go for another visa run? Where should I go aand what should I apply this time?? Getting 60 days in Penang, cost too much and waste energy. Any inputs are appreciated!!!

AFAIK The embassy in KL does not need the WP3 (anyone know for certain?).

Worth giving them a buzz / email to be absolutely certain though.

My friend is tossing up where to go get his Non Im B visa. His choices are Penang or KL.

He called both offices. Penang proactively told him he must have a WP-3. He then called KL and asked whether he needed at WP-3 there. They didnt seem to know what a WP-3 was.

I think we can safely assume that KL don't need the WP-3 then :o

You must have a WP-3, in all places to get a Single non immigrant B-Visa.

When you get the non immigrant B-Visa, take the visa to your lawyer, she'll make a copy and send to immigrations.

Then you get your blue book, take this and go Penang once more ande you'll get your one year visa.

Just to check the validity and certainty of your information, could you please let us know what base you have for your information?

From my own experience, and likely that of others, it seems quite evident that different foreign postings apply different requirements.
