Documents To Convert 90 Day Thai O To Retirement Visa

Featured Replies

Hello,

I posted earlier about my need to convert my Non -o- to a retirement visa.. I live 2 hours from CM so I am trying to minimize the back and forth travel. I would lke to be prepared and make the whole thing happen in one trip.

Can anyone help me with the following

What documents do I need to make this happen?

Can I get the retirement visa in one trip? If not, how long does it take?

If I can't get the retirement visa in one trip how do I extend my 90 day non -o- visa? It expires soon. What specific documents do I need?

What questions do I not even know to ask? Any other relevant information you can share?

Thanks so much for your help. The CM immigration adventure is a bit hectic as to many people and so busy. I would really like to make this as efficient as possible and minimize my exposure to that crazy place.

Cheers,

There is no retirement visa from Immigration - it is a simple extension of stay for retirement valid for one year and uses the normal TM.7 form (if download print front and back of one A4 sheet of paper and attach 4x6cm photo taken within last six months and include phone number on read side (can wait for them to tell you where). You will need proof of residence address of some type (wife home register(and marriage certificate)/lease/letters addressed to you there or such are normally good). Copy of passport data page/visa/entry and departure card front and back. Sign each copy. Fee 1,900 baht. They may want you to draw a map to location and sign a couple of forms at desk. For retirement financial is 800k in bank account 2 months first application so passbook and copies plus current letter from bank of account balance (as close to application date as you can - you might have to verify with an ATM/passbook receipt that day sometimes). If using 65k per month income letter from your Consulate and have backup proof supporting that amount in case asked (not often but can be).

I believe that Chiang Mai operate an online booking system for extensions of stay, which should at least guarantee a minimum waiting time for you.

Not sure, however, whether they will stamp your passport on the spot with the new extension, or whether you will need to return the next day to collect it duly stamped (as, I gather, is the case at Jomtien for instance). No doubt local Chiang Maians will be able to clarify.
