Car production in April rises 17.4%

BANGKOK, 29 May 2013 (NNT) – Thailand saw a 17.4 percent year-on-year increase in its car production in April this year; production of sedans rose by 105 percent.

According to Mr Surapong Paisitpatanapong, spokesman for the Automotive Industry Club, the number of cars produced in the month of April stood at 170,400 units, which accounts for 17.4 percent rise year on year; however, it represents a 33.5 percent drop from the previous month.

He said the reason behind the drop is that there were fewer working days in April than in March.

He further revealed that car production in the first 4 month of 2013 rose 38.4 percent compared to the same period last year, especially sedans, which posted a steep rise of 105 percent, or nearly 400,000 units altogether. The spokesman also expects Thailand to produce around 2.4 million units this year.

Mr Surapong further disclosed that Thailand exported 67,600 cars in April, an increase of 34 percent year-on-year, at the value of 30 billion baht.

At one time individuals who did not do their homework, did not know answers to questions, or disrupted class with nonsense, were sent to the 'Dunces' corner. Now it seems they are asigned to give interviews for newsprint.

Yes. Much better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. biggrin.png

Could the flood he the cause for the low amount of vehicles produced in April 2012? The figures are correct, but do not reflect the truth. Statistics can be used to show anything you want. It would be interesting to compare April 2011, with April 2013.

Toyoda and Jim Lentz, Toyota’s North

American chief, said Friday in New York that production of the ES, the

top-selling Lexus model in the United States, will begin at its Georgetown,

Kentucky, complex in 2015.

Toyota is investing $360 million

(¥35.8 billion) to expand Georgetown’s production capacity by 50,000 units to

more than 550,000 vehicles a year.

As the Lexus was founded in the U.S.,

“it is only fitting that we are bringing the production of luxury sedans for

our U.S. customers back to where the brand was born,” Toyoda said in a

statement.

The move is part of Toyota’s plan to

“give regions greater autonomy to make the products their customers want and

achieve sustainable growth globally,” he added.

Toyota said Friday it will add 750

workers for the project. Kentucky said last week it would offer Toyota tax

credits worth as much as $146.5 million (¥14.6 billion) to expand a

manufacturing operation that’s already Toyota’s largest in North America.

The Georgetown plant, opened in 1988,

is the main production site of Camry sedans, the best-selling U.S. car for the

past 11 years. Toyota has invested $6 billion (¥600 billion) at the facility,

which employs about 6,600 people, according to the company’s website.

“In this context, Infiniti is also

considering a second manufacturing location in North America,” the company said

in a statement Tuesday, without elaborating.

I was wondering if the government has ever thought of issuing press statements from a Press Office instead of confusing the world by firing from the hip. Just sayin'

Don't worry about it. The Thai government loves to use the anomalies to fool the public. If they used any more spin in their statements, the whole country would liquify.
