They clearly Wrote "4 times the resolution"

and they Wrote 1920x1080 & 3840x2160 so I think they did ok,

even if graphic illustration is "not really accurate"...

> You might also like the way they've doctored this image to reduce the screen border width.

Not the same model.

Not the same model.

I know, but it pertains to "Faase Advertising From Lg In Thailand".

False advertising in Thailand ? w00t.gif

Very little consumer protection here, some laws but 99% theoretical.

You usually have to find a way for officials to make money off a law in order for it to be enforced here.

In fact what you are doing here is illegal, not just civil action for trying to damage LG's reputation, but a crime you can be jailed for.

And the fact that you're telling the truth is not relevant.

The Thai legal system doesn't work the same as yours back home, or hadn't you noticed?

Why would they make the effort to put 4 time in their advert above the graphics?

The only way you would think it is 11 times is if you disregarded the claim that it is in fact x 4, ie, you can't read Thai or are taking advantage of the air con at LG to expand on your rant to the sales-person.

Then presumably you've just defamed the body charged with enforcing consumer protection law and we'll all be meeting up in prison.

LOL

anyway the resolution totally doesn't matter since video sources in higher resolutions than Full HD are very unlikely to come across anyone's way.

You're assuming there's even a law against false advertising here, to be honest I'd be surprised if there were. And the offended party needs to actually give a hoot (tip o' the hat to B Trink), never heard of this being applied to government departments.

Famous last words - google "4K cameras".

My new Chromebook's got a 2560x1700 screen, sample ultra high-def video shipped with that looks very nice.

let's see in the next 5 years just how often you will use ultra high def video, other than for samples and demos.

an additional problem is that regular HD might look uglier on such as screen than on one with native HD resolution because of scaling.

and... hihi... what would be the size of a movie in UltraHD ? it would be ridiculous, probably about 4 times the size or a regular movie, which is already about 8 Gig...

not to mention the bandwidth needed to stream it over a network... *shudder*

sorry, it's a no-go except in some professional environments and for people with too much money who just want to show off

would make sense as a computer monitor though - I hate being forced into small resolutions such as WXGA, just because of the economy of scale of producing the same panels for TVs and monitors. I like WUXGA or bigger.

I didn't assume anything - it was you that brought up laws. What makes you think that LG care but government departments don't? But I'll bow to your lack of knowledge with regard to government departments and the law.
