Does anyone here know where to find these seeds here in Australia?

If so can you please let me know Id really like to get hold of some, but they are really hard to find.

Mods, I thought perhaps as its Thai Basil, and theres lots of Australian members with Thai partners here including mine who is after them, it scrapes in as Thai related.

You could take a bit of a plant with you and scatter the seeds, so easy to grow, BUT, knowing that it is quite invasive and the strict quarantine laws for imports to Australia - if you get caught you might have to be shot! w00t.gif

Almost worth it for my wifes Phad Krapow! Think the Ebay option sounds safer mate.

I found Thai eggplant, prik khi nu and the Thai pink tomatos on there too.

Just make sure they're only being shipped within Australia. My SIL brought a Thai orchid for my wife last time she visited here - the flower was confiscated and tossed in the bin, and she was fined $240 on the spot by Customs before being allowed out of the airport!

Fined by Quarantine and paid money to Customs who collect on their behalf. Quarantine and Customs are two distinct departments.

Yeah those Thai eggplants are great in green curries etc. Wife just saw them and added them to the list. I can buy them at the Asian grocers easily but not the Krapow which is nearly impossible to find here in Adelaide besides the stuff in a jar which just aint the same.

Humm ... I may have a few seeds ... whistling.gif

Was it the Thai Sweet Basil or the Thai Hot Basil you were after?

I only know them by those names.

If it's the 'Hot Basil' ... no good planting them now as they won't germinate during our Winter, but the Sweet Basil does OK.

OP: Their are many market gardeners specialising in Asian herbs and vegetables, especially around Sydney and BNE. Do a search and contact a few. BTW my wife grew nearly all the herbs and vegetables (SE QLD) that you find in Thailand. She obtained the seedlings/cuttings from other Thai women in the area.
