Hi Guys,

Have my yearly renewal of married visa this week. I didn't get an appointment so wondered what was the best strategy to avoiding a very long wait. Last year I went early around 6am and put my name on the list, then went to the airport for breakfast until the office opened and we were out by around 10am. Do they still run the name on list system?

Any suggestions welcomed.

I switched from the marriage visa to a retirement visa 3 years ago. I got tired of being constantly hassled as it is clear they dont like people who are here on a marriage visa. If you can qualify for the retirement visa I recommend you do the same.

Without an appointment it is a complete crapshoot on how it will go when you show up. I did my 90 day last week and all I kept hearing when people got in line to get a ticket for what they needed was "can you come back tomorrow". That was at 1pm. My suggestion is to be seen the same day you will probably need to get there early but it is unlikely you will be able to avoid a long wait.
