What a weird thing to say.

Not for Chalerm it isn't.

You seem more upset about his hypocrisy than his crimes - possibly because of the number of Shinawatra's who have escaped prosecution by SoL, or hiding out overseas(?)

Why would this super rich businessman have a 25 year old crazy driver? Don't these type of mogul guys have like super-qualified intellectual highly trained and well paid confidants to be their drivers?

Foreigners are probably prohibited from working in that position.

It always amazes me how regularly the RTP get full confessions. I don't even want to guess how they accomplish this.

12 volt car batteries to sensitive parts of the body? The guy doesn't look beat up.

So we have a Aussie who thinks criminals and a hypocrites should be murdered.

Then you might like to look at the present PT MP's and Cabinet Ministers and make a list of who fits that criteria and suggest who is first for the chop.

It would we seem to now have the military coming and following Chalerm in saying 'we didn't done it"

Not so weird as people were saying PT had something to do with him disappearing, as he was a loyal Dem supporter. Bad journalism at its best.

Who said he was a loyal Dem supporter? He was described as a fervent critic of Thaksin (he started the 4 Seasons furore) and he certainly wouldn't be the first critic to meet an unknown or sticky end.

Wasn't Ekkayuth the key witness in the case against Yingluck Shinawatra regarding her meeting at the Four Seasons hotel ?

Just an amazing coincidence surely?

edited to add, Scott, Admin, any Mods, the quote function needs a techy to look at it, it is messing up all the text of who a quote is from. Thanks.

No, there was no "case" in that incident so definitely no "key witness". She was seen at a hotel for a meeting, that was it.

Not really funny, Australia was there long before the "criminals and hypocrites" that you refer to.

Thaksin and Chalerm did likewise, running abroad and breaking laws here.

Look into their backgrounds.

You must not know a thing about guilt confessions here nor how they bribe & pry answers. Do your homework on confession, pick up some prison story books, look at chalerm fleeing in the 80's and helping his son do likewise.

Not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but sheesh, look at the history of PTP and the people involved. This man had those after him; but his driver, c'mon.

Defense Minister says military not involved in Akeyuth case

BANGKOK, 12 June 2013 (NNT) – The Defense Minister has brushed aside an allegation that the military was involved in the killing of Akeyuth Anchanbutr, saying it has nothing to do with it.

Defense Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat has denied military's involvement in the disappearance of Akeyuth Anchanbutr, a business tycoon and political activist, who disappeared with 5 million baht cash.

The allegation came after the police had summoned Sergeant Major Ittiporn Pengduang, the father of Akeyuth’s murderer Santiphap Pengduang, for an interrogation as the police found evidence that could link the father to the son’s action.

According to the minister, he does not know whether any politicians were involved in the case, as the case is under the jurisdiction of the police, not the Defense Ministry. He urged all related agencies to speed up their work as the issue has now become an issue of public interest.

Well if there was no case, then why the panic to sue the people that said their was a case. I imagine after the gaff of initiating a class action, the realization that all witnesses would be cross-examined in court gives a rather uneasy feeling to some people.

So we have a Aussie who thinks criminals and a hypocrites should be murdered.

I agree, all I can think of is the individual is being paid to take the rap of a government cover-up."His existence or nonexistence is of no [interest] to the government. I am giving weight to murder, with money as a motive. I conclude he has been murdered already," said Chalerm, without offering any proof.) is just a very weird statement to make. I know, just another conspiracy theory smile.png

Everything could be a conspiracy until the truth happens to be known.

I say "could be" because a conspiracy is either a paranoid person (for example) exacerbating, or a knowledgeable person (with or without a guilt or fear complex) accusing anyone near the truth of being a conspiracy theorist.

I say that because it is more natural to accuse someone who is not near the truth of being an idiot. People who are near the truth, however, are generally accused of being a "conspiracy theorist"; and most frequently by people who are extremely intelligent, and who adamantly stick to argumentum ad hominem tactics and will never engage the accused in legitimate and objective discussion. Moreover, they will avoid this and step up their attempts to discredit the "conspiracy theorist" with lies, digressions and abuse. That is true in this day and age. I never heard this term growing up in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

The difference between a conspiracy theorist and an idiot is that a conspiracy theorist (if such a thing exists outside of the minds of those with guilt and fear complexes) indeed has enough legitimate and logical truths to point in the direction of a much larger and revealing truth, yet he or she is censored and obstructed at every step by the accusers, and can never get to that larger truth until the opponents can be silenced and/or restrained. The idiot, on the other hand, is ignored and left on his or her own to rant simply because there is no fear or guilt at what they endeavor to do or the results that they will not be able to manage.

At the end of the day though, without the truth no one is correct or incorrect, yet the popular opinion will rule and the unpopular opinion will be spat upon and/or ignored.

In the case of this OP; one cannot be accused of being an idiot or a conspiracy theorist when giving an opinion simply because the Thais are well known to hide, ignore or lie about the truth, which subsequently makes all opinions about them not much worth debating or defending unless there is personal gain or offense to those opinions.

No, you are not a conspiracy theorist; ... merely stating what everyone knows or suspects to be true and there is no evidence to contradict that.

Ekkayuth a businessman? Wow that must be because he is an important sponsor of anti-Thaksin forces and thus the Nation does feel the urge to portray this criminal as a legitimate businessman. The driver seem to take the fall here, even hough he do not know where the body was dumped. Ekkayuth was a man running a Ponzi scheme and a Pyramid investment scheme. Fled with billions of baht to London opened a few Oriental markets and returned after the statute of limitations expired. Why is the lousy Nation Newspaper no doing it's work? Is the fact that he is anti Thaksin good enough to distort the facts? He could have been murdered by all those people who lost millions of baht to his investment schemes. It was always going to happen and he knew it.

Whatever he was, he is a know con artist and NOT a legitimate businessman. He was the man behind the Charter Investment Pyramdi scheme. Never did a day in prison because he stayed 20 years in London. The English do not mind a few Mafiosi more or less in London as long as it pays. Half the Russian Mob resides in London so Ekkayuth would fit right in.

The timing is all important. If Chalerm had stated this right at the outset there would have been a degree of credibility to it. Now that somebody is in the bag and singing from the correct hymn sheet, tongues are bound to wag. This is fertile ground for TV's army of Sherlocks

Remember everything in Thailand, is an enigma!

Sad that. I remember the days that the only way to get one involved entering a sinking submarine, or getting the Poles to smuggle one out in pieces.

So who is getting the 20 Million baht that Thaksin put up for whoever got the murderer? Does any of this ever get paid out or does it just cycle around different cases? And why did Thaksin put up 20 Million to find the murderer of one of his and Yinglucks arch enemies? Did he want to find the murderer to shake his hand?

I was thinking along similar lines. When something seems weird, a simple answer is usually the answer. I was thinking that maybe a question was put to Chalerm first and he gave the quoted response. Then reports on it may have left out the original question,

Journalists don't question Chalerm - he makes (usually wacky) statements. He was just a bit too quick for his own good.

There is nothing wrong with the journalism here in as far as they have reported all the various opinions from the police & their various versions of the driver's 'confessions' and the politicians' denials. Ekkayuth was an anti-Thaksin opinion holder which doesn't automatically make him a Dem.

There's a strong sense of lack of real truth here.

Maybe so, but as a non Thai speaking Farang, I am very hesitant to believe much in a very narrow range of English language publications. Many reporters seem to use poetic licence in their translations. Not referring to the OP, but it can be seen in many articles. I find it difficult to believe that a man can rise to the position Chalerm is in and be as silly as English language newspapers make him out to be. It just doesn't make sense.
