Did you check to see that IE doesn't have you as being offline? Look under file and make sure "work offline" isn't checked. (seems obvious but sometimes the obvious things are the most easily overlooked).

cross reference your browser configurations - not guaranteed but likely explanation in here.

IE 6

Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings

FFox

Tools > Options > Connection Settings

If they're the "same same" post again with more info.

Hmm OK - in that case can you take a peak in your Windows Firewall gubbins.

Right Click "My Network Places" > "Change Windows Firewall Settings"

Goto the second tab "Exceptions" and check IE & Messenger have access -

if they dont - add them, you may need to specify a port number.

if the do - goto the "advanced" and restore defaults.

If still not good - what has happened since yesterday when it was last working - have you downloaded or installed any new programs?

I have a further problem with Yahoo which also includes messenger.

On start up i am automatically logged onto Yahoo.

Unless i exit the download it prevents me having additional web sites and will only allow one site at a time

I.E. I log onto a website and want to add another, it replaces the first one and will not allow any additional displays.

I find that if i close the Yahoo window by exit my down loads return to normal.

If i then open Yahoo manually without messenger there are no further problems.

I,ve tried re installing messenger along with emailing Yahoo for advice and following their

instructions but i still get the same actions as above.

This only happens on auto start up and after Yahoo messenger ect has been down loaded

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance
