There's a decent one on Rat-u-thit Rd, near the corner of soi Hatpatong, called Optics For You or something like that.

Must have been for sure only a "bit" of a search...

Around Patong there are many shops as such and one in particular seems near as common as 7/11's.

''Top Charoen Optical " is the one...blue and white signs..take another look..you'll find one very fast, i'm sure closedeyes.gif

I think you need to get those glasses as soon as possible!

that's what i was thinking, you can't throw a coconut in patong without hitting an optometrist or a tailor shop

Maybe the OP means: 'I had a search here on the forum but can't find recommendations for Patong optometrists'.

Yes for reading glasses and a simple eye exam an in-house optometrist is fine.

But do make sure you get your eyes regularly checked out - every few years as you get older - by a properly qualified ophthalmologist in case there are underlying issues.

In Thailand that would be most easily done by going to the higher-end hospitals.

i went to an optometrist a few years ago, had the eye exam and bought the glasses there, can't remember how much but a lot, 10,000 for 2 pair i think but maybe way off

anyhow, subsequently, i found a little shop on jao faa east, opposite the PTT i think, that sells nice glasses for 250-500 baht. i'm sure there are many more places that sell better quality ones than the ones you find in the local market for 100 baht.

anyhow, go in there, try a few on, check you can read small print ok, save a ton of money.

just my opinion, i'm no eye specialist

I went for an eye check in Phuket INternational a year ago and the puff puff test discovered I had ocular hyper tension.

This can lead to optic nerve damage which we know as Glaucoma. Best to have a 6th month check up, especially us older chaps.

If the Optomerist does not have the puff puff machine then the clinic isn't a good one.
