Why do tourists presume to know everything about Thailand?

I find it amazing that people who have never,ever lived in Thailand come on here pontificating about everything Thai and how well they know the locals,despite not speaking a word of the language also,unbeliveable!
I mean what can you actually know about a country until you actually live there,not very much?All you see as a tourist is the thin veneer that the tourist board wants you to see,not the underbelly and real life.It's like going on holiday to the Costa Del Sol for two weeks a year then trying to pass yourself off as an expert in Islamic Art at the Alhambra and Generalife in Granada,plus the invasion of the Moors!

So come on,if you're are just a tourist stick to your little bars and hangouts,learn some girly-bar Ting Tong Thai/Lao and stop doling out sage advice to everyone as if you were born here,it's just cringeworthy and embarrassing!
