Allgeier
Hello Kularion But why you feed the chicken outside? I will be worry about wild bird will eat also there and bring some kind of sickness.
Jotham79
Hi guys. What kind of chicken can be this on pictures ? Very dark compare to the rest RIR which are dark-brown-red ish Those ones from the beginning were very dark and now they have fancy pattern on their feathers... I have 3 of them and to be honest I like it Your warren layers are half RIR and half Plymouth Rock. When you cross them (male and female warrens) a small % are going to show recessive traits. It looks like at least some are carrying recessive barred genes. They will make for interesting looking birds.
Kularion
Hello Kularion But why you feed the chicken outside? I will be worry about wild bird will eat also there and bring some kind of sickness. HI, I don't know but all together I have 15 feeders and there is not really a lot of space inside the coop to hang all of them. I spend a lot of time with my chickens (like to watch their behavior) and I never saw wild bird on my yard... not even once. You think is crucial for me to move feeders inside ? If you guys think so I would consider this. Btw all 3 birds which died (my friend veterinary doctor from my country I've spoke on Skype with) says that he think (based on what I told him) that probably they die on Cocci and 3 birds out of over 200 it's normal and I should be prepared to loose some birds from time to time... because of mosquitoes (I have 3 fish ponds 100 m from coop) and Cocci (stress, change of weather etc)... Kularion
My chickens from first 2 hatching are doing great They are growing bigger every day and I'm very proud and happy for them Of course most of them are RIR but when I was choosing eggs for hatching I took probably some Warren's eggs as well so I have few chicks (not a lot) with different feather colour

Kularion
Hi guys For those who are interested I have created social group on Facebook for both Thais and Farangs who are dealing with chickens There is already 30 people is the group (since yesterday) and most of them are Thais so would be nice if more Farangs would join We can connect with each other and other chicken keepers, share ideas, talk about problems and advertising chickens/eggs for sale (main reason to create this group). If someone would be interested also to help me with administration of this group that would be perfect I need someone who can read Thai and translate adverts about chickens/eggs to English so everybody would understand. https://www.facebook.com/groups/purebloodbreed/ Well... I will wait for some answers and hope we can have a fun and help each other Cheers Darius

Hopefully within 150K Hi Kham, That's not gonna be easy to buy this amount of RIR's in this age as most farms here keeps Golden Comets for eggs purposes. People who are hatching chicks for sale (like me) are selling them when they are young - max 1 month old because costs to let them grow next 5-6 months when they don't give eggs yet (so there is no profit at all) is very high. I sold already some of my young (6 months old) RIRs but always in package (5 hens + 1 rooster) for 300 THB per chicken and this was just always more as favour to the friend or, like last time for example, to the people who delivered Japanese Silkies I ordered from them. I'm not selling many of my young RIRs as I want to make my own blood line to make sure birds are beautiful Edited May 14, 2016 by Kularion

Kularion
Kularion: What you do with all the male? The most beautiful I keep and sell - 300 thb per rooster (when they are 5-6 months) and they are people who wants to buy them as they are missing good and beautiful rooster for hatching. Not long ago I ordered Japanese Silkies and couple who delivered them like so much my RIR's that they took 1 pair for themselves Some I keep for myself. Some I gave away free - 1 roo with every 10 my old hens I was selling
Swami
I would like to buy some Rhode Island Reds chickens or fertilized eggs, to enhance my little egg-laying community around the house. Other races strong on the egg production side are also welcome. As far as I can see, most of the offers and participants on this forum live either in central Thailand or in the North. I live in Koh Phangan, far in the South. Are there any farmers down here, or any reasonable possibilities for transportation and ordering remotely? Thanks.
