March 31, 200620 yr Can anyone recommend an apartment building that is in the Sukhumvit 20s. 30s or other area, maybe Petchburi Rd or other midtown area, where I can find a nice one room apartment with refrigerator and balcony, TV not necessary, for 4000 - 7000 baht a month, and where I can minimize ripoff possibilities by not leaving a security deposit? I will stay three months, maybe longer, so no one-year leases for me. Alternatively, a decent hotel with monthly rates? Thanks for any recommendations. Edited March 31, 200620 yr by meowchawpnom

There is another place off of On Nut near Tesco that is pretty nice for about the same price but is quite a ways from the BTS stop, don't recall the name but check the Bangkok Post or something. Good luck
April 2, 200620 yr Author Thanks, Decent. I will check your leads but don't understand what "On Nut" is. Does that road have another spelling? If I could find a decent hotel with monthly rates for a little more, it would probably be worth doing that, rather than tie myself into a lease. I'm really a Chiang Mai person and don't know how long I can tolerate Groongthayp. I did check out Srinuan Court apartments yesterday but wasn't very impressed with them. Also they wanted a minimum 4 month lease or they double the rent.
April 2, 200620 yr Thanks, Decent. I will check your leads but don't understand what "On Nut" is. Does that road have another spelling? "On Nut" is the most common way of spelling the name. On Nut is the same as Sukhumvit Soi 77, so not exactly downtown. Sophon
April 2, 200620 yr Author Hey, are landlord attempts to rip your security deposit common in Bkk? I'm very wary about giving a deposit...but I guess it's necessary. Is one month deposit the norm, with one month advance rent?
April 2, 200620 yr Author I see in another topic that somebody got an agreement whereby he gives the landlord 3 months rent in advance and no deposit. This was for a house. Do you think an apartment building manager would agree to this? I'd much rather do that than leave a security deposit.
April 7, 200620 yr I was renting an apartment in Pratunam, called PR House and had no problems getting my deposit back. The reception staff are very helpfull. I was there 3 months. Cost is 7k/month for 3 months. TV, Fridge are optional extras. Also has 24hr security. Very clean. If you get a taxi to Indra Place, in Pratunam, then walk up the road (With Indra Hotel on your left) and it's down a little soi on the left hand side.
