what has been your greatest achievment here in thailand,

or what has made you proud to be here?

might be a silly question, but well if you dont ask,,lol

me,,, well i think ive got a very stable life here,, when i am at home, yes i call thailand my home, that is were my heart is,

its taught me that money isnt everything, and having big houses ect dosnt make you happy,

yes i suppose when i was in england that seamed to be what most were aiming for a big house, nice motor, ect,

but being here, i can be out in the garden, or down at the pigs, and look at my house, that isnt a palace,and think thats mine, thats my home, it isnt just a house,

yes some will be reading this and think, daft sod, well i might be,lol,

but i do get the feeling that i belong more in thailand then i did when i was in england,

i suppose im trying to say in my own way, that im not just happy with my life here im proud, not just with what ive got, as ive worked hard for it, as i did in the uk,

but im proud that, after a shity divorce in england,

i picked myself up, dusted myself down, and with the help of my beautiful wife and truely beautiful daughter, ive found happiness,

so what have you done,?????????

Money isn't everything as long as you have enough , if you don't have any\enough it quickly moves to the top of the list of things you need.

I am a serial underachiever so my greatest achievement is not having one to brag about.

Back in Oz I lived in a 2 bedroom concrete block in the middle of town but had to work to pay the huge mortgage attached to it.

Here in Thailand I've got a house on 6 rai with dogs, cats and chooks and don't owe anything on it. As you put it....it's not a mansion, but my wife and I have made it a home.

Not sure. In my mind just moving to Thailand was my best but as per your question of since I have been here would make it a bit harder. I guess being able to play as much golf as I like all over the place. At home I would just play local courses but due to the cheap cost of living here vs home it's nice to travel and see the country while enjoying a round or 2 of golf.

thats right mate you dont have to be a millionair here to be happy,

im sat in the office at work here on a bloody mucky old coal fired power station, and all i keep thinking is ill be home and happy when ive done this,,lol,

all the money i earn now gets saved, well most of it, for our future, so in a few years time i can put my feet up and be happy,

we only have 2 rai, but when im at home we have the pigs, ducks, chickens, fish in the pond, and pottering about growing veg,

it would be cheaper to go and buy veg, but i like to grow them and get satisfaction out of it,,,sad i no,,lol

i didnt take it bad anyway,

im not the kind to brag about anything, we have a second hand pick up, second hand yamaha fino,

to be honest i wouldnt want the locals in the village to think i was some kind of flash harry if i did go and buy a new pick up,,lol,

and with carrying pigs about wouldnt look new for long anyway,,lol,

as long as your happy with your lot mate, dosnt matter what you have,

I could post all the things I have done, but what's it matter? Isn't the defining characteristic whether or not we have done the right thing in our daily lives? I reckon that anyone can have a positive influence, rich or poor, young or old. It's as simple as putting litter where it belongs, being polite, showing kindness to critters and those less fortunate than ourselves. If we do good, then it doesn't matter how big the act of goodness is. Rather, what counts is having been a positive and contributing person.

Getting away from my crazy ex despite the threats of lies to the police, family coming to get me, suicide, homicide etc etc. It actually required me to leave the country for a while.

Been there got the t-shirt. Actually it is still ongoing after nearly 6 years of separation. Last conversation I had with her she told me her Dad now has a gun and wants to kill both me and her. She is in SG now.

I read somewhere once that one's happiness is in inverse proportion to the size of one's house.

I think that is true, I had the big houses with 200 bathrooms and swimming pools and so on and was miserbale. Now I have a little 2 bed 1 bath (for a long time it was only a tub with a bucket) in Indonesia and couldn't be happier.

Although I am not in the LOS permantley,now about 10 months a year,I think my greatest achievement is Baby Eye.For a long time I thought he was a bit off in the head but after recent events I know for sure he is.But that has bought us closer together,and I love the little guy and Lady Pla more

At a time like this I would like to be able to say something deep and meaningful.

However, I'll let you know once I have fixed the leak I have in the ceiling above the Kitchen, before the rainy season fair dinkum sets in.

With help from an elderly mentor I've turned my life around in Thailand and renewed a confidence I once had and lost. I've learned there are a lot of things more important than material possessions.

Keeping my Svengali skills honed... and paying 'my sister me' barfine too.

Greatest achievement would probably be proving to myself that I can do things by myself. All my working life prior to moving to Thailand everything was done for me, here I had to think for myself for the last 17 years. I know it doesn't sound like much, but would be surprised if there were not more people living here in the same boat..........

Also realizing that real happiness isn't based on how much you can drink or how many girls you sleep with (that was an interesting revelation!)

Of course there is the fact that I have been happily married for the last 14 years here, married to the person who saved my life (literally!). This is the longest stable place I have been since was 15 years old.

Again, raising the two 4 year old Siberian huskies to what they are today, I would class that as an achievement as well..................

After my first wife (a wonderful women) passed away from a lengthy illness, having the guts to get back in the saddle and start again. Now two brilliant (not in the smart way, but wonderful) children, a beautiful wife, and a peaceful existence. Twice blessed in one lifetime. Not bragging, just the way I feel.

My little 2 year old daughter and the next little one on the way. What could be more satisfying?
