Royrex
I have spent several hours looking at old post trying to find simple answer. I see many horrror stories but not a simple step by step proceduce. I thnk there is something about going to land office for bike and/or green book inspection with both buyer and seller together. question is; go to seller province first ( pattaya for example) then to buyers province (bangkok) for different plate and another inspection? johng
If you want a simple answer then get an " agent " to do all the running around. could save a big headache but take weeks. Longer way is you can go to the department of land transportation ( DLT ) in the provinvce the bike is currently registered and change the name in the green book....the bike will still be registered in that province and will keep the same number plate you can pay tax and insurance anywhere no mater where the bike is registered. seller doesn't have to go to DLT but you will need a signed " nungsue moub umnart " หนังสือมอบอำนาจ form from them. This is ok if your home province is near to the registered province ( not much fun if you live in Bangkok and have to travel upto Chaingmai ) Even longer way is to take the bike to your local MAIN DLT and first step request a change of provinces, this can't be done in one day you'll have to go back at least one more time to change the name in the book and recieve a new number plate. They will need to see the bike to take rubbings of the chassis and engine numbers if the tax and insurance is expired you must renew these before they will start the transfer process this is easily done at the DLT and depending how long ago they expired there will be a small fine. depending if you are moving provinces or tax expired etc they will want you to get a certificate of road worthyness ( MOT ) either at the DLT or at an outside testing center ( normally there are a few very near to the DLT ) documents required ( seems to vary from province to province ) if moving province you'll need the " request to move province form " Thai sellerSigned copy of ID card front and back ( not expired )Signed copy of house registration ( not allways required )signed " nungsue moub umnart " หนังสือมอบอำนาจ ( if seller is not going with you to DLT )signed "beb kum kor own le rup own " แบบคำขอโอนและรับโอน ขส.บ. ท. - 11greeen/ blue book signedForeigner seller needscertificate of residence from imigrationcopy pasport photo pagecopy of visa page and or extension ( not expired )signed " nungsue moub umnart " หนังสือมอบอำนาจ ( if seller is not going with you to DLT )signed "beb kum kor own le rup own " แบบคำขอโอนและรับโอน ขส.บ. ท. - 11green/blue book signed See easy peasy ( NOT ) Edited June 27, 2013 by johng
