Oil fire, take a look. Could save a lot.

This short film shows what happens if someone pours water on an oil fire. It would feel like the right thing to do for most. However its a recipe for severe burns, or worse.

I was taught that over 50 years ago.

What you SHOULD do is get 2 wet towels but not dripping water, one for yourself and the other to drop over the chip pan.

Good lesson but......

When was the last time anyone cooked chips in a pan?

Thais cook a lot in deep oil. Including omelettes apparently. I know cause we almost lost our kitchen from the results of a tiny saucepan of burning oil finding its way down the kitchen sink hole. Fire extinguishers are $20 and a potential lifesaver.
