What are the visa/extension requirements if you are living here (at over 50), but working remotely for your own company in another country ??

That would require establishing a company in Thailand, otherwise you would be working illegally. The labour law is simply not set-up with remote working through the internet in mind.

Visa rules were written pre internet and the concept of remote working. Black and white, you need a working visa if you're here and working in any capacity. In reality, others in your position will be getting a retirement visa and keeping their offshore interests to themselves.

IMHO how would anyone know what you are doing online unless you go around telling everyone?

It is absurd to try to get a work permit for such a thing, and they wouldn't give you one anyway for it. Maybe sometime in the next decade Thailand will update their labor laws, but a hunch tells me foreigners will still get the shaft for remote online work like you're doing now.
