This is a bad puzzle, it required guess work which a sudoku should never require. Also there is more than one solution, this also should never happen, here's another solution...

This one I got from 'The Daily Telegraph' a UK newspaper, which publishes puzzles every day, with different difficulties; easy, moderate, tough, and diabolical, this was a diabolical one that I decided to tackle.

Yes, I have a book of DT sudokus. The diabolical ones are not the best puzzles, I have found a few with the problems you encountered - better off with the Guardian!!!
