July 18, 201312 yr Mods, could you please file where appropriate. Went to the Thai Consulate in Annerley Road today and thought it was worth reporting. I have a British passport with one other TV in it, a x3 from London issued October 2012. Office opening hours are 9.30 to 2.30 on the web site but 9.30 to 2.00 on the door of the Consulate. I arrive at 9.30, no ticket machines, no counter, no queues just me and a the very nice lady from the Consulate. She checked my already filled in form and only asked for a next of kin and contact number in Australia where I had entered 'self' as guarantor. My brother lives in Brisbane so no issues. Handed over completed application, 2x passport photos and 90 AUD (45 per Visa) Out of door by 9.35 having been told 'Come back and collect at 12 Sir' Raining and nothing at all to do at the Gabba so went to the Queensland Museum in South Bank to kill time. Returned at 12, one other person collecting a passport. Same lady, same smile, out of door with double entry tourist visa with six months expiry by 12.05. Does not get any better than that, thank you Thai Consulate Brisbane staff. Two other things worthy of note, I was not asked for proof of onward travel and there is a big 'for sale' sign outside the property. I asked if they were moving and the very nice lady simply said that they were thinking about it, it had been to successful a day to pursue it any further suggest a phone call to check before setting out. hope this is useful.
July 18, 201312 yr This information is useful to me . Thanks Greenwich Boy , does anyone have any info to add ?
March 16, 201412 yr Hi, just went to the Consulate here in Brisbane to get a new ImmB and was told by the staff that since September last year the Thai labour Dept sent them instructions on new rules for this visa: They will not allow any longer a person holding a MULTIPLE ImmB to apply for work in Thailand, and therefore only allow a SINGLE entry B visa to apply for a work in Thailand. Can anyone verify this, they seem to be quite stringent in informing me before making a descion, I could still have the Multi B but there would be big problems with the Labour Dept in Thailand.
March 16, 201412 yr I am not aware of any rule change. There are people still getting work permits with multiple entry visas.
March 16, 201412 yr Per above. If since September I am sure we would have seen reports about this by now.
March 16, 201412 yr Well, why would the staff at this consulate say this if they were not serious? I mean she gave me a 5 minute lecture to make sure I was CLEAR on my descion, something that they haven't done before in the years I've been going, she also mentioned a case last month where a guy got a multi-entryB visa from here, went to Thailand and was told he couldn't get work by the labour dept.(a teaching position) with that visa so he flew all the way back to Australia and cancelled it, then got a single entry visa, went back and reapplied with success.

Who knows? Ask the consulate for an explanation or even better check with the Australian Thai embassy.
March 17, 201412 yr Hi, just went to the Consulate here in Brisbane to get a new ImmB and was told by the staff that since September last year the Thai labour Dept sent them instructions on new rules for this visa: They will not allow any longer a person holding a MULTIPLE ImmB to apply for work in Thailand, and therefore only allow a SINGLE entry B visa to apply for a work in Thailand. Can anyone verify this, they seem to be quite stringent in informing me before making a descion, I could still have the Multi B but there would be big problems with the Labour Dept in Thailand. Hi I had the same experience from Brisbane when I applied via post and was given the same talk (but over the phone) and had to send a new money order for the single entry. However,on arrival in my TEFL class, there were other students who had the multiple entry B visa (issued elsewhere) and the class coordinator swears this is all nonsense. The lady on the phone from Brisbane was polite but insistent that no work permits will be issued to multiple entry B visa's so rather than risk it I just took the single entry which was cheaper anyway. I remain confused though and have not heard anything from my multiple entry class mates yet to clarify.
March 17, 201412 yr Ok, to clarify the position here, the Thai consulate in Brisbane will no longer issue multi-ImB visas due to the new regulation sent by the labour Dept in Thailand that now requires that evidence be supplied by the future employer that it would be 'necessary' to make multiple trips in and out of the country that are a pre- requirement of the specified job, so basically they are trying to stop people from 'abusing' the visa in lieu of using it as a way of just staying the full the year without applying for a work permit in a legitimate job, yes? also, they will no longer handle processing of the multi-ImmB visa and send it to head office in Canberra instead which could take up to 5 working days to complete. After all this I opted for the double entry Visa anyway which I was still available along with the single entry with the paperwork I had (letter of offer from employer, application form and 2 photos) and be processed within the normal 2 hour period. Does this make any sense to you all? She also said that a number of consulates around the world would be coming into line with this directive over the the next few months. March 17, 201412 yr Get a single entry and return and get you work permit and apply in Penang for your visa if you are working for a company that supply the required documents.
