July 18, 201312 yr My Thai girlfriend is locked up for a crime she didn't commit. She has done 2 years with one more to go. I want to get her out now but not sure if to go to a lawyer as being a falang, they think we have money. Any suggestions please
July 18, 201312 yr Popular Post She has done 2 years with one more to go. I want to get her out now She has already done 2 years, and now you want to get her out ?? What's the catch ?? Edited July 18, 201312 yr by MJCM
July 18, 201312 yr Popular Post Not 10 years or 30 years or life anyway, freedom is right behind the horizon, for many it's not. What crime she did not commit ? Who trapped her, a neigbour, a jealous friend any idea ? Perhaps I would first hire a private investigator instead, if he can find some new information it might be a bit more easy for the lawyer.. Why are you so sure she did not commit this crime ? It could be well possible that she's is just using you with lies. Edited July 18, 201312 yr by rubberduck
July 18, 201312 yr Popular Post Odd she has been in there 2 whole years and this is your fist post regarding this and your fist - alleged - forum post. Did you meet her in the nick? If not, why, as MJCM says, do you want to get her out?
July 18, 201312 yr Unless someone knows magic I can not think of any other way but lawyer. Are you under some delusion that getting her out would be free? If you were a Thai ?
July 18, 201312 yr Author She has done 2 years with one more to go. I want to get her out now She has already done 2 years, and now you want to get her out ?? What's the catch ?? she kept getting told six months, next month you will get out. guards are liars, lawyer was a tosser, didn't tell her anything just give me money
July 18, 201312 yr If she has done 2/3 of her sentence, is she not entitled to a pardon? Sent from my i-mobile IQ 6 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Just tell her to ask the boss of the prison: "How much?" You bring along the envelope, and your darling will be free tomorrow!

July 18, 201312 yr No one in prison is guilty, son. They'll all tell you that. She's done the hard yards...it's all downhill from here. But I am intrigued. You have been visiting and supporting her for 2 years and only now you decide you want her out. Why the sudden change?
July 18, 201312 yr Popular Post Thai girl friend locked up. A blessing in disguise for some one might add.

What do guards know? and who ever listens to what guards say when it comes to being released? Lawyer WAS a tosser? So why did you not change the lawyer? Is it possible, you have returned to Thailand for a holiday and found your favorite sex toy is in jail, she then fed you some stories to either get you to support her family or perhaps spend some money on getting her out? By the sounds of things, you do not have a clue at all of what took place, what the crime was or anything else for that matter

July 18, 201312 yr OP - if you could provide a more substantial account of your girlfriend's plight, it would certainly prolong the longevity and interest in the thread.
July 19, 201312 yr You can buy out of prison before sentencing. Once they go in there is little that can be done. You cannot appeal or get a reversal because no one in the legal system will ever admit they were wrong. I am afraid there is nothing you can do but wait it out.
July 19, 201312 yr Assuming she's been a model prisoner she might be eligible for a pardon next month, or in December.
July 20, 201312 yr Popular Post You really need to get to the bottom of a number of questions. When did she go into prison? How long was her sentence? Did she spend time in custody prior to sentence? When was she sentenced? Was part of the sentence suspended? What was the offense? Are there any other offenses awaiting trial? Which prison is she in, and has she moved prisons since she was first taken into custody? The last question is important, sometimes prisoners can be moved to less secure or even open prisons prior to release. A progressive move through the system can indicate progress towards release. Many release dates are subject to a positive parole rapplication and not true release dates at all, to some extent that will depend on what she did to get in prison and how long she has been there. Only when you know all the above answers will you be able to estimate a release date. I'm assuming you have got to know this girl since she has been in prison, perhaps as a pen friend or as a visitor.. am I correct? I'd stay away from Lawyers at this stage, they will likely just take your money and do nothing. Anything that may be able to do would likely take more time than she has to serve and would be expensive and achieve nothing. In fact, it could be harmful, a change in status from sentenced to appellant at this stage could even prevent parole or pardon!
July 20, 201312 yr you are a farang - you do have money - [compared to the average poor Thai ] - just seems to be a matter of how much she is worth to you - how much time she has left and yes, as another asked - 2 years? - why now. ps - I have heard that nobody ever did the crime.
July 20, 201312 yr Popular Post If your girlfriend didn't commit a crime , she was unable to buy her way out of trouble paying a substantial fine to the police . If you want to pay that huge sum on your own head be it . My advice is leave well alone , you are safe while she is in prison . A large proportion of Thai girlfriends and wives are more trouble than they are worth . " Variety is the spice of life "
July 20, 201312 yr I would suggest that you talk to someone like Siam Legal initially. They will be able to check on the background of the case and give you a straight answer (in English) as to whether there is anything you can do and how much it is likely to cost. There are good Thai lawyers around who will be much cheaper but there are too many that will just take you for a ride and do nothing useful. Don't go trying to bribe anyone as was suggested in another post here, you will end up in jail.!!!!!
July 20, 201312 yr Probably her younger sister offered her herself to him but only if he can get her older sister out of prison
July 20, 201312 yr Send money for her or her family to get a lawyer. Most lawyers that I have dealt with do not charge more for falongs IMHO. Good point above, if you are concerned about the possibility of getting ripped off, then give the money to the family to deal with the lawyer. Frankly though, I would trust the lawyer more than some Thai families I know.
July 20, 201312 yr Popular Post It seems you raise many questions with your post. I'm no different. Are YOU in Thailand? If not, this could well be a story to get money from you. I've seen it happen. My friend went home for awhile. The story was "help! I'm in jail because I talked bad to the police! I need 2 million baht". She wasn't in jail at all verified first hand by my GF.
July 20, 201312 yr Advice from a public prosecutor: Do not do anything; Do not visit her; Lawyers can not do anything now All attention to her prison time will be debited as "unwanted" and you being a farang as possibly damaging th Thailand.
