NARATHIWAT: -- Insurgents and the authorities are blaming each other for the death of two female government teachers who lost their lives in a roadside bomb attack in Narathiwat on Wednesday.

Military spokesman Colonel Pramote Promin said yesterday that the results of the autopsies performed on the two victims indicated they died from shrapnel wounds to the head after the blast. The bomb is thought to have been intended for a military vehicle that was also in the area.

After the explosion, the two teachers lost control of their vehicle, which plunged into a canal. Autopsy concluded that Nusyahan A-wae and Nayeeha Yeera were killed by shrapnel from the homemade bomb - made from metal rods cut into pieces.

A government spokesman also refuted rumours that the two Muslim women died in crossfire between insurgents and the police.

He said that insurgent sympathisers in Narathiwat, who want locals to believe police were responsible, spread the rumours.

Insurgents and security officials alike have been cautious about reporting violent clashes during Ramadan, with each side blaming the other during the ceasefire. Ramadan ends on August 8 and the ceasefire between insurgents and government forces is expected to end a few days later.

"Ramadan ends on August 8 and the ceasefire between insurgents and government forces is expected to end a few days later."

After this cowardly murder I'd so it's over already.

The report implies that one of the two women was driving. 'After the explosion, the two teachers lost control of their vehicle, which plunged into a canal.'

In other reports elsewhere, the driver - another teacher - according to police, put his foot on the accelerator and lost control of the car, crashing into a ditch and killing the two women.

And then we have: 'A government spokesman also refuted rumours that the two Muslim women died in crossfire between insurgents and the police. He said that insurgent sympathisers in Narathiwat, who want locals to believe police were responsible, spread the rumours.'

So what really happened?

Insurgent's learn that bombs can cause collateral damage and attempt to blame somebody (anybody) else.

But why? Surely it was god's will. bah.gif

The Thais are blaming, proving, and showing. They are something else these Thais. This crisis in the south of Thailand is the longest global terrorist crisis ever and the most deaths. It's astonishing that the UN hasn't stepped in and the US is silent about this massive amount of terrorist killing in Thailand and Thais are incapable of dealing with it.

Most deaths? So far "only" around 6,000 deaths on all sides on the conflict, plus civilians. A comparative example is the Philippines Muslim insurgency that lasted 40+ years, with approx 150,000 deaths.

UN cannot step into the domestic affairs of a member country, without being invited, so far Thailand has declined to do so. Various US security agencies have provided briefing and analysis papers to US administrations & US military do provide training for Thai armed forces. Guess the US does not see the situation in the deep South as threatening US strategic interests.

Thainess Promotion: Bombs didn't kill the women...the shrapnel, made from cut steel rebar, was placed to make the bomb more deadly....but the bomb didn't kill anyone. Wow...I'm speechless.

How will we be able to tell when the Ramadan ceasefire ends?

It's already over if the terrorists are attacking and murdering civilians and troops again.
