likite
Bought a car from a dealer. Part of the deal was the remaining part of the insurance would be transferred over to me. That was 6 weeks ago and nothing from the insurance company. Spoken to the dealer 2/3 times he says wait for the insurance co to send the details. Is this correct or bull****? Any experience of this? terdsak_12
The insurance would be fixed with the car, so not that nessassary to transfer into your name.
scotsman
I would have thought he would have to change into his name as some people would have to pay more premium than others as they would have no claims or are younger ect.
Crossy
Depends what type of insurance the dealer is talking about. The compulsory insurance is attached to the windshield and covers the vehicle for almost nothing, no names associated with it, covers anyone who drives. If you have first or second class cover in addition to the compulsory you should have an insurance certificate. Mine (second class) just has the vehicle details and our address, no names. Also covers anyone who drives.

kasi
The compulsory(the govt sticker) insurance doesn't protect you. You should have at least 2nd class(liability) insurance. 1st class(comprehensive) on a newer car or truck.
likite
I have the sticker on the windscreen and additional insurance with my name on from Viriyah. Not sure if its comprehensive or not (all in Thai). Whats the government one for? I suppose its compulsory but does it not cover you for anything? likite
Just a thought, this insurance thing sounds complicated maybe some experts could have some info pinned on the forum to go with the driving license stuff.
