Any decent place in Bangkok to sell back my good camera, lenses, equipment?

Featured Replies

Anyone know of any camera dealers, buyers, or traders that offer OK to fair price on camera gear? Not looking for a fortune, just a medium / fair / regular price. Reason I ask is I'm flying back to my home country in about a month, am already completely stuffed and want to get rid of all equipment, will be in Bangkok before I leave. (At present am in Vietnam, and will be in Phnom Penh Cambodia for a few days as well).

Camera:

1)Camera body is old (but works flawlessly) -- Canon 400D

Lenses:

2)Sigma 10mm - 20mm wide angle lens

3)Sigma 17 - 70 (with macro ability).

4)Canon 55 - 250 (almost like new, rarely used)

Also:

5)Speedlite 430 EX large flash -- excellent condition never used.

6) Fujifilm S2000HD compact digital camera

Reason I ask is because I've been told that lenses in particular have a lifetime of use to them and just because they're dated doesn't mean they get old and useless like most electronics. Amazon lists the lenses impressively high: the 10 - 20 at about $375 used, the 17-70 at $390, and so on, but I'm not looking to drive a bargain. Just a shop (s) more than happy to do business. Anyone have personal experience the same as me?

Best to advertise it on ThaiVisa classifieds I guess.

You are better off trying here, Baht and Sold and Craigslist...all at once. I have sold a crap load of stuff in the last 4 weeks, at a good price too. Craigslist is full of tyre kickers though, be warned.

Thanks for the replies. I have since checked out one camera shop I remembered, fotofile. They are listing some items used. They are selling my 55-250 IS lens for 3900 baht. I wonder if they would even give me an even 2000 or so (lol). I sent them an email but not reply. Anybody with experience in dealing with them or other shops?

Selling via classifieds, CL, etc: problem is I don't live in TH, and will only be popping in for about a week, staying probably in the Banglampoo area. I'll have a cellphone but no apartment. Is that good enough? Isn't a permanent address all but necessary to attract buyers?

Just explain the same as you did here, and say that anyone interested has to be willing to meet you when you are in Bangkok.

There is a camera shop on the 1st floor of MBK than carries a lot of used equipment - Check them out - They may buy too

Thanks. This will be my first time ever, buying or selling, via online classifieds, so I'll take your advice and give it a shot.

Should have stated I won't be in Bk for another month or so.

@sfokevin, yes that's the shop that I checked online, if we're talking the same one it's name is fotofile.com.

I woulda brought them off of ya, but sorry mate I'm a Nikon person.
