Best Tour Company for One-Day Visa Run from BKK to the Cambodian border?

Recommended Posts

Can someone recommend a tour company that organizes one day visa runs from BKK to the border of Cambodia and returns same day?

I am sure there are both good companies and rip-off companies that do the visa run, so your personal experience or word of mouth will be most appreciated.

I am looking for a company that takes responsibility for the border crossing and the Cambodian visa.

Also, a company that hires drivers who are well rested and sober.

Finally, does anyone know the cost of the Cambodian visa? Is this cost usually included as part of the visa run tour package?

Thanks to all who respond.

I,ve been on numerous visa runs and it's usually a white knuckle ride

when it comes to the driving, occasionally you can get a middle aged sensible

driver but not that often.

The prices are all inclusive and start at 2000bt upwards for a 10 seat minibus,

and 2500bt for a vip 6 seat minibus.

Good Luck!

I have used www.thaivisaservice.com

a few times and never had any issues

Would use them again

and would recommend them

I'll second that. Haven't done runs for a good number of years now, but back when I did, went with ThaiVisaService.

Trip to Cambodia was large bus, leaving at a reasonable hour, from the cafe across from Ekamai BTS, which made it very convenient.

The trip to Vientianne, however, was a minibus and I wouldn't do that again.

But despite the long time since I've used them, I'll recommend ThaiVisa Service along with LuckyLew.

Jusme, That would be http://www.thaivisarun.com/ . They uses vans when there are not enough people.

Used them a few times and with the big bus it was ok. No experience going with the van.

Once i went with http://www.thaivisaservice.com/ and they leave from Lotus onnut, just show up in the morning at 6:45. Trip was good and no crazy driving involved. I would recommend them.

I normally do that trip once a year, until last year with Jacks Golf Tour. Now the procedure and maybe even the staff are the same, but the outfit is "Bangkok Buddy" + something, but they're also located at the Sukhumvit Soi 12 entrance in the "Korean Center".

Price is now 2,200 Baht, leaving every day at 05:00 am, but you have to be there earlier to fill out the documents (they check it and help you if needed). Don't forget 1 photo! Normally you're back by 02:00 pm or a little later, depending on BKK traffic.

One way takes about 3+ hours. You exit Thailand and staff (with identification) will pick you up in the no-mans-land and take your passport for processing the Cambodian part. You get a voucher for one of the many casino's restaurant, where you can have a halfway decent breakfast buffet. They pick you up there, when the passports are processed and you go back to the Thai immigration. You can buy cheap fags (like 150 Baht/carton) and/or booze, but be aware, that the Thai custom officers are out to get you, if you got more than allowed. If you got more (e.g. a friend carries them) take the additional cartons etc. back only, when inside the bus!

The way back to BKK is as boring as the way out, but so what? You got your formalities done. If you got a slight overstay, the tour staff will know and help you to the counter, where you can pay the overstay penalty, but in general I would really try to avoid overstays. They also look bad in your passport...

Riding in a bus is certainly more comfy, but if there are not enough to join they will use a mini-van. A mini-van is more communicative, you get to talk to the others on-board... I talked to the driver last time, he made a pretty down-to-earth impression on me. He is driving that trip basically every day, so he really knows every bump etc along the way. And he is not driving weird, as some others might do.

If I can afford it, I prefer to go either to Chiang Rai or Had Yai for a border trip plus a few days outside BKK, but for the price and the efficiency I can endorse them Bangkok Buddies...

Cheers,

SamM.

50 baht train bkk to arun. 15 baht songthaew green truck to border. 800 baht visa. 15 baht green truck/songthaew back to arun bus station. about 250 baht bus arun to morchit. or return by train next day with about 300 baht overnight room at arun hotels. ***dont speak to anyone not in a brown uniform at the border. . ***

buy cambo visa AFTER clearing thai imigration NOT anywhere before that!

also instead from the border (stand at kasikorn bank and you will see the buses) can catch direct bus to chachoen sao then to bkk from chachoen sao bus station. these are standard big blue govt buses at standard costs. not tourist rip off prices. also more trains to-from chachoen sao than to arun. from chachoen sao train station to bus station is a short walk. check google maps.

Yup, you're right. Sorry 'bout that. Got confused by the similar names.

It was ThaiVisaRun I went with, and was satisfied. Can't comment on ThaiVisaService at all.

Balo, Only when the Bus is not in repairs and there are enough people.

Otherwise two or more vans are used.

Once i made reservations because i like the big bus. And when i arrived it were vans.

Not nice because most people have no way to change plans at such a moment.
