Recycling in San Sai/ Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've seen recycling places in Chiang Mai area before but I'm north of chiang mai now in San Sai (near Mae Rim, at the intersection of 1001 and 121). I'm looking for any recycling center in the San Sai area or north/east of CM. Directions are great, GPS coordinates are even better. We should probably start putting these things on wikimapia and/or google maps. Thank you all.

From the center of Mae Rim go towards CM. Turn left at the traffic light on the road to Mae Joe, cross the river and on the left before you go up the little hill you will find a recycling center.

There are also recycling centers on the CM - Chiang Dao road a few kilometers before and after Mae Rim on the East side of the road.

A bit difficult to respond to your post because you say you are in San Sai near Mae Rim and that does not work out since San Sai is East of the river and Mae Rim is West of it. Now if you meant that you are in Mae Joe In San Sai, that fits. You are not in Mae Joe are you?

He's by MaeJo university.

Well if that is the case, he can go north on the road to Prao, that is probably 1001, and in Prao turn left and go over that nice road to Chiang Dao and turn right up the road to Wiang Pa Pao for a few kilometers and find a great recycling place on the left side of the road.

Just follow the fuckawe bird.

As said the intersection of the 1001 and the 121 (Lake view park area ) is no where near MaeRim .From there if you head East along the 121 for 1.5 km aprox you will come to a set of traffic lights .(there is also a small Tesco/Lotus to the right ) .Turn right there and aprox half a km down on the left hand side is a rec.Center.

There's a little place to sell scrap etc. in Mae Jo, what are you recycling? I've found an old local man who is more than appreciative for all our home's newspapers, boxes, plastic etc. that I give him to sell. Perhaps look around for someone on your soi who could use a few extra baht for themselves.

Thank you, good directions, I found it right where you said it was; Thank you all for all your directions. True it's not really near MaeRim; it's tough to give people context out here, usually when I mention San Sai and road numbers I get blank stares. I can imagine though that for people like yourselves who know the lay of the land my mention of MaeRim would be confusing. Anyway, thank you all again, the ThaiVisa community makes life in Chiang Mai a lot easier. Cheers

Many villages in this area have a local family doing recycling, they will collect from your home, weighing & paying on-the-spot.

So perhaps just ask local villagers ?
