There really should be leaflets handed out to people as they leave on the airplane to any of the worlds tourist destinations - just because you're on holiday it doesn't mean that you have become immune to street theft, so wise up and switch on, don't carry more money than you need, secure your belongings like you would at home in a major urban centre and be aware of your surroundings.

It is no excuse for crime, but carrying that much money at night in seedy wonderful (I've been told not take negative comments about Pattaya) is pretty reckless.

Any Third World budget tourist resort this would be wise, not just Pattaya. This goes double for women (especially one with kids it tow). I know, it's sexist but it's the truth.

Good to see no serious injuries...there is always the potential for these robberies to get messy.

A reporter must have been in the station at the time because it is sad fact that such bag and/or valuables snatch and grab events happen multiple times each day and are reported at police stations. Only rarely are culprits identified properly and later caught.
