Dear All,

I would like to ask for your help.

My foreign friend already obtained a work permit in Thailand for a company in Phuket. What if he wants to get another part time job? Does it allow in Thailand, and how to make it legally?

Many thanks for your kind advices...

Certainly No. Your friend can only work for that company who sponsored his work permit and he should not be working for another company, even on a part time basis. Don't get caught, the consequences is very serious.

Thank you so much Vinny and Desmond for your info. Very clear to me.

if you are in Thailand at the moment, wish you a great holiday.

Wonder how two contradictory replies can make things clear. The reply from desmond isn't correct. OP's friend certainly can have two employers. How to make it legally? - file an apllication at the employment office for having the second employer added to your WP.

Thanks Rishi. I understand Desmond may mention only that one work permit from a company can not cover 2 jobs at the two different companies at a time and that if my friend wants to work part time in another company, Vinny with Sunbelt Asia... and you have helped me above to get the answer. Thank you again. Have a good day Rishi!

Accepted... I merely put in my objection, to secure that some hasty surfer, interested in the subject, but not bothering to click on vinny's link, wouldn't end up with the wrong impression.

Just to make things clear for the hasty surfer: If you have a workpermit obtained by a means of cooperation of one employer - you can have several other employers added on the very same workpermit. Just a question of applying and getting some stamps and writing entered into the one workpermit you already have.

Dear Rishi, you are very thorough, thanks so much for that.

Could you kindly explain me what is "means of cooperation of one employer" (1). And "other several employers" here means they even do not belong to the (1), can it be?

And if he applies for the second WP in this case, does he need to show many documents as he needed for the present wp he has obtained? How much is for the fee?

Thank you.

Sorry, but regarding the question of having several employers listed on ONE workpermit, I don't think I can make things much clearer than Sunbelt did in the link provided by vinny above.

With respect to what documents are required to have a second/thirth/fourth/etc. employer added to your friends workpermit - I have no experience. Being the combined management and HR-department of my one and only employer, I've sort of never had to even consider other employers - I merely convince my one employer to apply for an addition of new details to my job-description on my behalf.

However, from what I've red, your friend shouldn't expect the documentation requirement for his second employer to be less than the requirements for the first one.
