I am living in Thailand now and my current visa is an Non o multiple entry visa. I will not be renewing this visa.

However, i would like to stay in Thailand for a further 9 months after my current visa expires. Can i go to Laos and get tourist visas for this time.

Yes you should be able to obtain enough tourist visa entries from Thai Consulates in Laos to cover your planned stay - you might start with application for two entry from Vientiane.

Are you aware that you can do a border run just before your O visa expires and get another 90 day entry?

A two entry visa would give you almost 6 months by extending each entry 30 days at immigration. Then a single entry to get another 90 days would do it.

On what basis did you get the O visa? If for marriage you can get one in Savannakhet Laos. A multiple entry visa would be less costly overall than tourist visas and extensions.
