August 6, 201312 yr Hey i have a fairly large open area on my property that is unused and i was thinking about trying to raise some chickens to lay eggs. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with doing this here? Cost, where i would get them from, what type of shelter they use in thailand....are snakes a problem for chickens here? Are they ok in the cold season? etc etc. Any help is appreciated.
August 6, 201312 yr There is a lot of knowledge in this forum http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/forum/104-farming-in-thailand-forum/
August 7, 201312 yr I would suggest you look at the farming forum. I was just reading a topic about chickens on that forum today. Maybe the mods could move this thread to the farming forum. Edited August 7, 201312 yr by market trader
August 7, 201312 yr The kind of birds I am looking for I have never seen for sale, like Marans,RIR, the only kind available will be hybrids. As for snakes, yes they can be a problem,so make sure that the housing in 100% secure,we lost a nearly full size Goose to a Python. Would also like to have some Bantams, like I had in UK, OEG and Modern game. Best to ask at shops that sell feed,if you want some chicks. regards Worgeordie
August 7, 201312 yr I raise chickens, ducks and quail for eggs and just started chickens for meat, started w/o any experience and it has worked out great, it's easy and though I never was especially fond of birds I like my little feathered friends. I'll pm you as not get moved etc.
