Had My Turn...Be Aware!

He puts the blame solely on the barman who he assumes of maybe putting some sort of drug into his drink. Yet, even though he has a serious heart condition, the OP did not seek immediate medical attention when he became seriously ill and later flies back to Australia and then only Skypes his doctor for medical advice.

Agree in toto

Is the OP some kind of medical expert?

He puts the blame solely on the barman who he assumes of maybe putting some sort of drug into his drink. Yet, even though he has a serious heart condition, the OP did not seek immediate medical attention when he became seriously ill and later flies back to Australia and then only Skypes his doctor for medical advice. Any doctor of worth, would have advised him to seek a medical examination and tests a.s.a.p. I would definitely recommend changing his doctor.

My question is, if the OP has a serious heart condition, why is he drinking strong alcoholic drinks anyway? As although being no medical expert I would guess could have some diverse affects on him without the help of some barman.

My advice to the OP is; go and have a medical check, as there maybe more to this than just some speculation that the problem was caused by something dodgy placed into his drink.

I didn't fly to Aus...I flew home to where I live in Thailand....then I contacted Aus by Skype...

Bit hard to move around when your legs wont coordinate.

The bit that is confusing for me is, does the OP usually take his own drinks

with him when going to a restaurant for dinner?

As he wrote:

For the first time, I let my guard down and didn't take my drinks with me, ....bad move !

yes I do....as usually the drink I have is not available at most places...and having heard of this kind of antics going on, I try to protect what's left of the old body

It's not because I am a miser....

13yrs of being here in Asia, and finally got my turn....oh well, lesson well learned.

Today feeling like my old self....what a ride thoughPosted Image

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes, but if you came into my hotel with your own drink, you'd either pay corkage or would be politely asked to leave;-)

Which hotels that? So we know not to go there.

It's in the OP....I highlighted it, for anyone who wanted to know....pronounced "About Hip" but spelt (I think) on the sign "Abot Hip"

I went out last week and had about 15 pints. Next day I was dying sick all day long. I'm never ever ever going to buy a burger and chip on the way home again.

It's only ever the last pint that causes it.

Weegee, hope you have recovered from the ordeal mate.

You drink 15 pints, what do you get, wake up in the morning, your bed is wet...

Never, we practice from a young age so an automatic control is on the Sphincter biggrin.png

Id say you had an allergic reaction to something.why in the name of god would the barman poison you! its a hi so bar for god sake.it would be easy to trace the drugging back to him..and if he did drug you when was he gonna rob you? as you collapsed on the ground in frint of the bar!get real man..youve been listening to so much crap that you've become paranoid! you probably had a heart attack!!

Good comments - I would think that anybody experiencing these sorts of reaction would consult a physician immediately. Being a sufferer of an allergy that can have very serious affects similar to those described, particularly the itching and muscle paralysis, it's seems bloody obvious that it was a reaction to something that was eaten. Can the OP advise what he ate at the restaurant?

A simple Epinephrine shot would probably have solved the reaction in a few hours. It sounds like the OP actually put his life at risk by not going poste haste to a hospital immediately, particularly having a heart condition as described. Scared of the local witch doctors maybe?

To suggest that a bartender (by all accounts from a well known and popular venue) slipped you a mickey is going a bit far under the circumstances.

When people act out for a perceived insult you are paying for all insults they have endured over the years. That's how normal reactions become over reactions. It's were we get wrong place wrong time from and a good deal of homicides. It's also why that little voice in the back of your head is so often right, listen to it. The OP was a victim of a hate crime.

... story makes no sense and i thought you were having a troll at first ?? ... fair enough if you had a couple of hookers back in you room but why in the hell would a barman spike your drink !! ... you obviously suffered some kind of serious medical malfunction which would be better checked out by going to an international Hospital here in Thailand and doing some tests... i would be concerned that your doctor in Oz diagnosed you over Skype and did not recommend you to go to local hospital immediately.....

I posted to let a few know my experience...Not my health

What was done medically, is between myself and Dr (Drs ) concerned.....and was not meant to be the basis for the post.

I haven't mentioned anything regarding what went on both here and Skype. NO one knows about that except the people involved.

I posted to let some know my situation, I unfortunately got myself into......Hope no one else has that experience...

End of Discussion....to those who understood, thanks for the concern.

No, I have nothing but praise for my wife....she never left my side and continuously kept contact with people concerned....I will never forget that.

Weegee

Sounds like Alan from "The Hangover Part II" got a job as a bartender.

When you say "had my turn..." - Thailand is a specialist on one off weird experiences and you'll have plenty of time for other weird turns here.

Seriously, glad it worked out, but given the symptoms you had and the fact you have a specialist heart doctor already, check out Bumrungrad or similar next time. Could have been a whole host of things, and would be nice to hear the next story smile.png

Agree, but am no doctor. Like I said sounds exactly like a durian reaction wife had. Usually a spiked drink involves waking up with no recollection. Weegee I assume your wife was there? Why would he poison you if a Thai girl was around? Are your suspicions because he used a cocktail shaker? I do agree it's suspicious but hmm, I've never seen any barman shake a beam and coke ever ever then I've never seen my wife have a similar reaction from eating durian.

Bar druggings are a sad and ongoing part of being in Thailand. In 14

years here I have been drugged three times. Was lucky, and was really

not the worse for wear each time. Druggings seem to be a fixture of the Pattaya

news, and tend to make headlines when the dose is too high and the

tourist is killed.....

Weegee, I'm glad you have recovered. I do think you should think about the possibility you were allergic to something you ate, rather than been drugged. It just seems to be a more likely possibility. After all think about it. What would be the motive of drugging you? If it was an allergic reaction, you want to make sure you don't eat that food again. Who knows maybe you were even allergic to something that was in the shaker for a previous drink.

One can imagine what this is, but hard evidence is better. Have a test or two, get well soon.

Regards

Sounds like poison to me, what else could it possible be?

Also sounds like he slept without a problem, the teeth grinding sounds strange if sleeping.

BTW OP you mentioned nothing of your stomach, often poison upsets the stomach.

OP what do you thing was in the drink?

A few mentioned allergic reaction, makes sense.

Good to hear you are back to health weegee, and what a fright you must have got.

I sat with a bar owner and watched a guy pour a bag of liquid into a bottle. It was a clear liquid, it came from a bright pink bag. The guy has one of those roadside carts you see everywhere, and he's in direct competition to the bar owner I was with.

The bar owner said there was nothing he could do about it, he knew who the guy was paying tea money to and you don't mess with this guy. I was always wart of those carts due to the stories I read here, and now I've seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't go near any of them now. However weegee says it happened in a hotel, that's even worse. sad.png

Sorry you lost me here, what are you talking about please?

A guy?

Selling alcohol on the street is in competition with a bar?

Pouring what into what?

Pouring a questionable substance into a bottle to sell as a drink?

I do find the conversation interesting and i would like to follow and understand, thanks.
