I went with my family a few weeks ago. They run on Saturday's at 1pm but if there is any sort of Budda day (not just public holidays) but days associated with the moon they can change to a Sunday.

Car-parking 40 Baht ( keep your ticket and receive 20 Baht off entrance.

Entrance 20 Baht per person open stand or 100 Baht air conditioned stand.

Timings for the races are worse than you might expect. The races can be over an hour late. Horses can stand in the starting stalls for 15-20 minutes waiting for??? Maybe they wait for betting. Betting seems to take place in a hurry the last few minutes before the actual start. The races are pretty all attempted 'fixes' but they are not always successful in what they plan. Heavy betting near to the start time pushes the odds on a horse and then everybody follows thinking the fix is on.

A family day out? The long wait between races is a bore. The day I was there the races were short starting across the track from the grandstands and finishing in front of the stands. There are big meetings with longer races. Most horses are older, bought from Singapore and race every week. There is a paper written in Thai which explains the horses for the race and their chances. It has comments such as ' will win if the owner decides he wants it to'

It is a cheap day out. I bet at random but did not win. Total loss 200 Baht!

In BKK, you can take BTS, one stop from Sala Deang, to Bangkok Sports Club, and every other weekend they race by the Royal Palace, and it's a nice walk from KSR. They race both Sat and Sun in BKK. A place bet is second or third, and there is no show only bet. Very few farang go. Some group detonated a bomb on the pedestrian overpass back in September 2010 over by the Palace.
