PATTAYA:--On Friday Night officials from Banglamung District and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board set-up a checkpoint in East Pattaya which resulted in the arrest of 47 people who were suspected of using drugs or residing in Thailand illegally.

The checkpoint was set up inside Soi Nern Plub Wan close to the Nern Plub Wan School and in front of Chockchai Village 4. In less than 2 hours hundreds of people, mostly men, had been ordered to stop and were subjected to roadside drug tests and ID Checks.

At the culmination of the short operation it was announced that 40 men had failed presumptive drug tests and would be taken to Hospital for a more accurate test which can be submitted to Court as evidence.
